Forums - Sales Discussion - Will we see Nintendo domination again?

Will we see Nintendo return to former home console glory?

Yes, WiiU should dominate for a long time 54 25.84%

Yes, WiiU should at least... 49 23.44%

No, I don't see WiiU dominating many weeks 40 19.14%

No, WiiU will be dominated 56 26.79%

Other 9 4.31%

Total:208

Who said 3DS couldn't dominate the 720/PS4?

(I don't think Wii U will sell as well as Wii but it could possibly lead the generation again. Just not as much as last gen.)

If they plan out their game releases. They have a few IPs such as Mario Kart that Sony and Microsoft simply can't compete with.

I don't think we'll ever seen anything like the Wii again. It was a huge risk and it reaped huge, unprecedented rewards.

If Sony and Microsoft price their next consoles at $500 or more, then maybe Nintendo could recreate the sales gap. But I don't think either company is foolish enough to do that.

It will happen when Nintendo stop making the games they want to make (Pikmin, Nintendo Land, Wii Music wtf) and start making games that have sold well in the past but really try and make them more awesome (NSMB + some actual effort/production value, that really epic Zelda people want minus annoying helpers/cutscenes/boats/trains, Wii Sports sequel that sets a new standard for motion fidelity and use).

The only way I see Nintendo domination again is if shooters die out. I think the 720 is going to dominate next gen.

I believe so yes. Nintendo has always been in a category of its own. I think the most interesting battle will be the PS4 vs Xbox 720.

Furthermore, I believe it is apparent in which market each console will succeed:

North America: Xbox 1st, Nintendo 2nd

Europe: Xbox vs Sony, Nintendo 3rd

Japan:  Nintendo 1st by a long shot, Sony 2nd

Even though i'm 99.99% Sony fan i would love to see the WiiU dominating the charts Nintendo seems to need it more than Sony right now. So they can just laugh at the haters and stockholders and say HAHA SCREW YOU!!

I don't think there will be  such thing as domination in the video game market ever again. It seems as if consoles are becoming more equalized in terms of releases. There are many more multiplatform games, which gives reason to buy all consoles in the long cycles they're having (6 years +.) Of course when it comes to the handheld market Nintendo is maintaining domination, yes . To be honest though, I don't like monopolies and I view this as a good thing, it'll push Nintendo to work harder on improvement when they have risks, just like they gave the huge effort they did the first two years of the Wii. Because they were on the brink of death they tried quite hard and some of their best games ever came in that period.
