That's them haters for you.. Just because they don't like the console and it's not to their liking then no one will. Doomed!
you know this isn't even remotely logical right?
the casual market will not transition to the 8th gen. you know Nintendo fans won't go for that right.
the wii's decline had nothing to do with being a fad. that was all on Nintendo drooping support for the platformin favor of Wiiu.
No, Nintendo will wait more like 6 years to release an even more awesome console
Xbox One, PS4 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

EdHieron said: If you look at the history of Nintendo and their consoles, you see that they tend to release new consoles that lag behind in technology, them release newer consoles only a few years down the road ( see Gameboy Color, followed by Gameboy Advance, then DS all coming out roughly in the space of five years). This console gen they discovered that a new console aimed at the right audience ( largely nongamers) and at the right price can become a fad and make them a lot of profit in the short run but be doomed to failure in the long run. See Wii's position in the marketplace the last two years since it simply didn't have the hardware to compete with Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Sony's Playstation 3. More than likely we will see a similar situation occurring in the next two years when Sony and Microsoft release their new consoles. Wii U ( which has already shown that it doesn't have the same level of demand that the Wii and 360 had at their launches) can conceivably do well against Microsoft and Sony's upcoming consoles in its first year as it will be getting by on ports from the 360 and PS3 during the short term whereas Microsoft and Sony's next consoles' lineups may not be all that impressive at launch. However by the Second Christmas for the follow ups to the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 all the True flashiest and most anticipated next gen games will be launching for 720 and PS4 and the vast majority of them will be far superior to any Wii U versions in much the same way that 360 and PS3 versions were to their Wii counterparts (the few that were released). Yet with more consumer friendly pricepoints for their new consoles than their predecessors had in addition to still maintaining the power to make Wii U look as obsolete as 360 and PS3 made the Wii look, market penetration of the 720 and PS4 will be much more rapid than it was for 360 and PS3. In effect, Christmas 2014 will be in favor of 720 and PS4 versus Wii U just as much as Christmases 2011 and 2012 were for 360 and PS3 versus Wii. So, do you expect Nintendo to launch the successor to Wii U in 2015? |
i have a hunch that you are going to be one of those that will be quite upset and disappointed and possibly even angry when the other next gen consoles are not the same kind of gap the wii had to the 360 and ps3. im confident in saying we will have a ps2 vs gcn type gap.
The demand for Wiiu has been much higher than the 360 at launch.
Why are people saying PS4 and 720 ( if they are even going to be called that) are going to be tons more powerful than WiiU and therefore make WiiU irrelevent. We dont know anything about these consoles, when they are going to be launched, and no concrete evidence of the specs. Ive said it before but they might not be the graphical powerhouses people are expecting.
Nintendo's console record is around 6 years between releases. They're at the peak output resolution that will be around for at least another 6-10 years as the norm, 1080p. I feel like a parrot repeating this, but it doesn't seem to sink in - the jump from xbox to 360 or ps2 to ps3 or wii to wiiU was a far greater jump than anything we'll see until 1080p is no longer the run of the mill for HDTVs. The PS4 and XB720 will look only slightly better than the WiiU, so the graphics won't be that outdated.
If you think about it, they're taking the PS2 approach - come out first, slightly less powered than the rivals, but establish a solid base before the rivals hit the market. Worked pretty well for Sony back then.

The only times they've had comparable or better technology were Super Nintendo ( lacked external CD-Rom Drive), N64 ( lacked CD-Rom Drive) Gamecube ( lacked DVD). |
The trolling is strong with this one. The NES (Famicom) launched in 1983. It was third generation console. The Sega Master System (Mark III) was the third version of Sega's third generation console. The original Mark I launched in 1983. The Master System launched in 1985 with upgraded hardware that was backward compatible with the Mark II and Mark I (SG-1000). The PC Engine launched in 1987 and was fourth generation console. I'm even going touch the more ludicrous Gameboy vs. PC Express and Atari Jaguar comparsion.
