Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Will Nintendo be Releasing a New Home Console in the Next 2 to 3 Years?

How about no!.... 5-6 years like all the time... please don't start this new Nintendo console in 2-3 years crap, we already had to put up with that bullshit from pachter.through the whole Wii;s life. maybe they re-release the controller like they do with the DS's, 3DS's and gameboys. but that's about it they will do.

There are two possible ways for Microsoft and Sony next-gen:

1: They will release an ultra powerful console, therefore so expensive no one's gonna buy it, certainly not in these days. Also, powerful consoles demand for beautiful games which are too expensive for most companies nowadays to make a profit on it.

2: They will release a more casual platform with forced casual games and accessories like the Kinect and Move. But casual gamers already lost interest in gaming after the Wii. Also not gonna work for them.

Why are these to only two options? The first option is an extreme, the second is getting there. Why not a moderately powerful console with a focus on hardcore gaming, but tries to cater to the casual audience as well?

Motion Control proved to be popular for Wii during that time, but once Kinect released, it took away the only ace in the hole the Wii had, so you see it being the first console of its time ( not of its Gen there's a difference) to die off despite its early sales.  So comparing Wii U and Wii that way is like comparing apples and oranges.  Really the closest analogues to Wii U are Dreamcast, Xbox 1 ( during the time when it was called "Portbox" by detractors as Wii U will mainly be getting slightly spiffier ( if they manage to turn out better than Arkham City) ports from PS3 and 360 prior to the release of the Next Gen consoles) or maybe the Gamecube if it had been released a year earlier ( though the horsepower difference between Wii U and the Next Gen consoles will be more like the difference between 360 / PS3 and Wii than it was during the 6th Gen).

No

In Gods we trust. Dattebayo...

WiiU ID:         Aias23

Xbox360/XboxOne ID:  Aias23

3DS FC:         3737 9509 2938

2017 is the obvious year given Wii U came about a year late. Also, 2-3 years is ridiculous, aside from 2D Mario, Nintendo has not even released any major titles yet. Outside of 2D Mario and Wii Fit, Nintendo has not even revealed any of their major titles yet.

Nintendo has made their bed, and have to sleep in it the next 5 years - no matter how things turns out for Wii U. There ain't no new home console coming from Nintendo until 2016-18...

A more interesting question is whether or not we'll see a new portable from either of Nintendo or Sony within 5 years...

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

Since the op is mostly making up bullshit about Nintendo I will continue in this vein.

Sony will go bancrupt after trying to push the power of ps4.

When Sony is bancrupted MS will get bored with the gaming buisness and just drop out.

This will likely cause Nintendo to become the assholes they were duting the Nes and Snes and never realease another console besides the Wii u for as long as they are alone in the market.

Those are the only two options because the market that Sony and Microsoft own expect MUCH more from them the next generation in terms of specifications, graphics, online and power. At least when you hear the negativity about Wii U being underpowered.

IF they make a console not much powerful than Wii U, then Wii U will get third party ports and get the core-gamers back.

Nope.

Hear that sound? That's my eyes rolling in my head.
