The demand for Wiiu has been much higher than the 360 at launch.

I really can't see how that can be the case.  The 360 was completely unavailable in most areas of the US until the Spring of 06, and it was selling for a couple of hundred dollars at least over its retail price on ebay.  Wii U is available in about any store you walk into and it's selling for $25 to $50 less than its retail price on ebay.

or it could just be that theirs is plenty of stock for the wii u. nintendo stated they did not want to repeat the shortages of the wii. look up super chunks thread on the wii u launch vs other launches. maybe after ms had sold less than 30 mil of the original xbox they didnt expect to pick up as quick and didnt ship enough.

all we know for certain is that the wii u is currently selling faster than the xbox 360 did in the same time period.

Nintendo is trying the limited console tactic that they tried with the Wii. The demand is lower than the Wii which is why the only time you couldnt find one at launch until mid december. By late december Wii U's could be found anywhere and werent sold out. Explain how six and seven year old consoles are outselling the Wii in fourth quarter. When the Wii was out demand was still sky high through the end of the year and beyond. This is showing that Nintendo is competing for the same crowd the 360 and PS3 are dominating right now. If the casual audience was truly being sought after we wouldn't even be talking about this right now because the Wii U would've gone through the same commercialization as the Wii.

are you really surprised that systems with a larger library and cheaper price are selling better than a system with a smaller library and higher price?

isnt there a thread here that shows that is pretty normal? instead of comparing the weekly sales compare the launches. after a year on the market then compare weekly sales. same goes for when the other consoles launch.

New DS will be announced this year, that's what I think, they seem to go with it every 2-3 years.

DS (2004)
DS Lite (2007)
DSi (2009)
3DS (2011)

You forgot about the DSi XL and 3DS XL (the latter of which they released just a few months ago).

OT: lmao. There's so many things wrong with the OP it's not even funny.

You do know that the 3DS is a new system, and not appart of the DS line

... Yes, whoever said it was..? The above was simply a chronological list of Nintendo's handheld releases, regardless of generation.

I dunno, the WiiU won't fall below 100k before the last full week of February? I just don't see it, I'm afraid.

(And please cut down this quote tree as I cant on my phone!)

Sounds good. What would the bet be?

How about what I said above, with the winner getting 1 month Sig control and/or 1 week avatar control?

Only 35k to drop. Looks like you have lost your bet. :D

Although WiiU is on par with PS360, I think Nintendo will only release a new console 5 years later.

I wouldn't be so certain, and you never confirmed the bet anyway

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Check this thread again, I confirmed the bet.

I dont see the deal, casuals and non gamer people are sticking with outdated old hw, which is way cheaper and hyperbundled, no surprise, WiiU s battle is with 8th gen hw, which is now 2.5m ahead
3rd parties dont matter, just look at sw sales leaders by gen, Nintendos core games are always on top, this upcoming gen wont be any different
