I hope we see bigger games next gen, if MS doesn't use blu ray then I guessing they will have a proprietary disc that holds as much as a blu ray disc.

It will definitely come with an odd that delivers more space for disks. So it could be bluray but not necessarily (like WiiU). But as the time for optical discs is almost over it's becoming more and more meaningless.
Btw, the dvd-drive was no problem for x360, I think. And no, we won't see bigger, more open games because of bluray but because of newer technology built in future consoles.

I'm hoping it's cartridges!!

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

They will definitely not want to pay Sony for their discs so they will use their own new disc format.

Yes. There is no other option... even Wii U uses Blu-ray.

I'll be surprised if it didn't. NextBox needs to play blue-ray movies.
Xbox is an entertainment system not just a gaming system.

Indeed. Doesn't WiiU even use a 25GB proprietary disc format? I think they'll certainly not go for DVD again at least.

Yep, Wii U proprietary disc can hold up to 25GB, which I think will be enough for next gen games.

OT: I think they will, but more than the blue-ray option I'm imagining something similar to what Nintendo is doing with the Wii U.

Some of you may remember all the fuss surrounding 360's "ancient" DVD drive compared to the Blu-Ray format PS3 supports and that DVD "holds back multiplatform games" etc. Blu-Ray was victorious over the other HD format, HD-DVD, that MS supported. Now that 8 more years have almost passed since 360 came out, will MS fully embrace Blu-Ray with their next-gen console offering? Will we see bigger, more open games because of it?

Yes it will and yes, we will.

On the small chance that MS put their foot down and stick with the outdated DVD, they will either have to change their licensing method (penalises games that are on more then 1 disc) or console gaming will go down the crapper.
