I was thinking that too. I want to wait for NPD and any possible bragging from the console manufacturers before I make a prediction so I figure around the middle of the month would be a better time to make it as we would have results from the first few weeks and perhaps a few confirmations.
My general impressions/expectations are:
3DS to be down a little.
Wii U to slip away from the Wii's pace towards PS3/360 initial pace.
Vita: No idea, depends on whether Sony cuts the price and whether people still care.
PS3/360: A couple of million down.
Nextbox/PS4: One or both is going to have a pretty fast start as the next generation is long over due. I think that we're going to get a lot of volume because of the scalability of contract manufacturers like Foxconn so the launch will be more like a couple of million first few days like the iPhone not a few hundred thousand, The Wii's records for launch will be broken. If things get really hectic we could see >25M next generation consoles by year end.

PS4: 2,532,000 (I don't think it will come out, but if it does I think December)
720: 5,134,000 (I think it will come out Q3)
Wii U: 6,040,000 (I don't think it will gain steam, I think by the time it could gain steam 720 will come in)
PS3: 9,510,000 (Because ps4 won't or will come out late, ps3 will have decent sales)
360: 5,143,000 (720 will eat at sales)
Wii: 2,673,000
3DS- 14,724,000 (Sales more then this year because of Pokemon)
PSV-9,456,000 (I think a prize cut will happen and boost sales)

I'm uncertain why the 720 would outsell the WiiU if it comes out late in the year, or why the PS3 will more than double the 360 numbers. Seems a bit...off to me.
