What a crap article with little research. Sony announced it would stop shipping to Japan, not the entire world. As for the final number, 150M, really? We already know its closer 160M. If I remember correctly, it was 157M by Sony last quarter. Ugh, someone just reaching for hits.

damn and me without the money to buy a new one.

LONG LIVE THE PS2 in our hearts minds and gaming history. now the DS can officially take it's place atop the console heap.

a new king will be crowned, but the legend that was PS2 will live on for ever, as it is the benchmark no other home console will ever achieve.

Doesn't handheld system be different from a home console?

Best Handheld last gen: DS

Best Home console last gen: PS2

yes it is different my friend, but  gaming is like politics, and in time, DS will have outsold PS2. it's already past PS2 up to the point when vgc stoped tracking PS2.

but when DS sales 160m ww, it will likely be official, and hell will likely break loss. it all depends on who's tracking what and how, and who cares. trust me, someone cares.

a thread has already been made about DS out selling PS2, and many sighted the fact vgc stoped tracking it so DS hasn't actually passed PS2.

apples and oranges, but someone cares.

some people are so quick to just use a number they saw on some site to try and twist things instead of just using sony's latest data. all it takes is a little search on google.

Nice to see rubbish articles being posted on the VGChartz forums. Honestly.

Factually incorrect articles that are put together by imbeciles should be banned from the forums. They spread rubbish, incorrect information that causes arguments.

Thread makers should do research before they post trash.

Lets be honest. If they are cutting production in Japan and are not making anymore after the currents supply runs out, it probably means everywhere.

maybe your right but if it meant everywhere, they would have said so. they specifically said japan.

Could this mean they need the manufacturing plants for next gen?

Yes. It's almost that time. If the system launches next year, they'll need the plans as soon as the Spring.

Yes, but some people don't like having two winnings. I see that the DS as the Best selling Handheld Systema and the PS3 as the best selling home console. The real question is how long will they hold that crown for?

Guys, this is only for Japan, not worldwide. Ars Technica just did it for clicks. Ps2 is still popular in many countries, so it wouldn't be discontinued this soon.
