Forums - Gaming Discussion - Which will have a price drop first? WiiU or Vita

Vita, obviously.
It's quite obvious that Vita needs a price drop, while it's also quite obvious that Wii U current problems are mainly in marketing and logistics.

Vita. It's already had price cut in Europe.

But I can imagine Nintendo plan is to start act more aggressively by the time competition rolls out, so besides more games price cut is not out of question by the end of 2013 as well. Depends on how it will sustain its sales. By the looks of it, there's smth should be done in Europe already. And it seems there're some good offers price wise in there due to bundling if I'm not mistaken and that's not due to retailers getting rid of the stock.

Vita.

Vita, it's too soon for the WiiU

100% vita and it needs a big one.
It's £229.99 RRP in the UK yet you can one bundled with a game now for £180.00 and its still not selling great. The price drop will need to be £100 to £129.99 with a huge marketing push.. Reality is after the price drop it will be £180.00 with no new marketing. Nothing will change. It deserves so much more

Vita. Nintendo was adamant about finding a price point that would last them at least two years.

" If they are hoping for two years they will be lucky to make it a year. Maybe sell a version without a gamepad.... If people want it then they can buy it separately. Use wii mote and classic controller instead. Can Nintendoland be played without gamepad?

1) Nintendoland cannot be played without a Gamepad. But even if it could, it would ruin the point of the game, which is to introduce you to asynchronous gameplay and show you the many ways it can be used. Imagine Wii Sports using only a GameCube controller.

2) Selling the Wii U without a GamePad would mean selling consoles to consumers without any guarantee they will have a working controller. Not every game supports Wiimotes or Classic Controllers (Zombi U, Rayman, Arkham City immediately come to mind). Again, that would be like selling the Wii to consumers without a Wiimote and Nunchuk and hoping they only buy games compatible with GameCube controllers til they can afford a remote meant for the console in the first place.

3) Let's see what Nintendo does from now til this holiday season before declaring the already low price point won't last a year or two. I'd think it would release one more Mario or Super Smash or Zelda at its current price to maximize sells before a price drop, or at least show them off.
