Yeah, without a doubt. FPS did become the genre of choice this generation.
I think it`s only natural for genres to gain and lose popularity. I have seen platformers, beat'm ups, sports titles (last gen) have their moment. Not that they dissapeared but when a genre does something great it gains an attention that wasn`t there and people either discover the genre or even rediscover it again.
We'll see if people have had enough of FPSs or if a genre will stand out this generation.
