Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Don’t count on late Wii U ports from Capcom

Good. Honestly, I'm happy that the Nintendo fans on this forum are getting some use out of the late ports which have come out for Wii-U, but realistically, they were never going to sell well to anyone outside of Nintendo-only console buyers. What Wii-U does need is new games being released concurrently with the other two systems.

About MH3U, I think that was just Capcom testing the waters with the gamepad for the inevitable MH4U, but I also suspect Nintendo paid... I mean err, "made a deal" with Capcom for the release. They know how much a Monster Hunter game would help in Japan, and aside from Mario & NintendoLand there wasn't much in the launch line-up to appeal over there. Smart move by both sides really.

I concur

Is it just me, or this just silly by Capcom. I mean look at Ubisoft who has done late ports like AC3, but also done new games like ZombieU. Sorry Capcom, I just don't buy it, and I think you're just being lazy and waiting to see if the Wii U numbers will grow before you support it. Because if Ubisoft can throw both ports and new games at the Wii U, well why can't you (and those other lazy developers)? Sorry I don't buy it, so Capcom can take their emo DMC game and shove it *** stomps off to finish ZombieU***

There isn't much point in porting old games that people already own. In fact there isn't a lot of point in putting games on the system period with such a small install base. Real games will starting hitting the system in fall 2013 when there are 10 miilion potential customers out there.

Guess no U version of RE4 this time. *shrugs*
Anyway, not late port =/= not ports at all. Remember me could be released on Wii U along with the other versions.

Doing ports won't make their teams familiar with the hardware though, Darksiders 2 for one was ported over to the U by less then 10 people (it only took 3 people to get it running on the U), the U itself has a facility that easily accepts 360 assets with out too much tinkering. Building from the ground up will actually teach the teams more then ports in this case, Capcom are already heavily established among the Wii following they don't really need to go the route you suggest as that's more for newcomers like EA who never really tried before, they don't don't pump out loads of titles but give the userbase titles like TVC, MH, Z&W and the Chronicle games they're most likely continuing this approach much like how 3DS got Mercenaries and Revelations.

More reason to take advantage and make quick money with little effort. It does not have to port everything but a few key franchises, with not too much delay (like DMC between release and July with some extra DLC for free sounds like a good plan). The point is that they don't have anything for the console except for UMHT and they are telling us essentialy that they will not support the console at all for the rest of the year and that is a wasted opportunity.

LMAO yea right Capcom.

What's next? Square Enix to focus on main Final Fantasy titles instead of ports and remakes of older games? LOL

It can also come across as we're more focused building something new from the ground up, looking at what they did with Revelations on 3DS I'd happily welcome this.

RE6 will come to Wii U, is just a matter of time, 5 in the other hand is debatable. I wish both come.

I held off buying resident evil 6 for my ps3, because i hoped capcom will port it for the U. Fingers cross they at leat port this game.

Maybe they will create an exclusive resident evil game that is actually a survival horror game.

Resident evil + some of the mechanics in zombiU = awesome

Bet with ninjablade:

Ninjablade wins if the next 5 multiplat on the wii u are inferior to the 360 version.

I win if one of the 5 mulitplats are on par or superior on the Wii U.

As mentioned previously by DaRev, why not both?, or at least throw a bone and mention that they ARE working on something but are not allowed to talk about it yet, that would be great, they can create hype and speculation, without really saying anything. Right now they are only denying "old ports" but not offering anything in return. It sound more like excuses to not have games ready for the console than anything else.

Lets just hope that something is really brewing, but since Capcom is famous for releasing almost everything as multiplat till they start adding WiiU to their plans Ithink we will not see anything at all from them.
