While I think it's very likely that the PS3 will pass the 360 sometime late in 2009, putting the 360 into 3rd place, you're probably right: there's no way the PS3 will have those kinds of sales relative to the 360.

It looks like the 360 will be the best platform for GTA4.  I don't know whether most will end up knowing this, or, even if they know this, whether they will even care.  For example, I may eventually buy GTA4 and I don't care if I have the option to buy more exclusive content because I don't go crazy for GTA anymore.

The worse console of the two will have better sales due to DLC and a bigger userbase.

What would you say if the PS3 did not come at $299.99 leo-j?  What would your thoughts be then?

I guess we will have to wait and see how PS3 lineup does this year, but I think 2009 is still pushing it since PS3 would have to outsell XBox 360 by 70,000 units a week from here on out.  I think that XBox 360 and PS3 will stay close until the end of the generation, and if PS3 does come in second place (first place is out of the question for both XBox 360 and PS3) it would only happen near the end of this generation.  With that prediction in mind, I'll still be happy because a close showing or tie with Sony is good for Microsoft and the American gaming industry.

 Based on the three trailers released so far, I'd be hoping that both versions can actually get a solid FPS because good lord, the trailers chug along so badly. 

 That's great and all, but this thread is about GTA4.

 Well, for one, the exclusive content to my knowledge will come way after the launch, and will come at a cost, so I doubt it will have much of a impact, and I think GTA4 just may be the game to start getting PS2 owners to upgrade, especially if another price drop is in order.

 P.S. 360 the best gaming console? HA! I think not.

well i know that the ps3 version is outselling the 360 version on pre orders. I think the 360 will outsell the ps3 version in america but i think only by a small amount not by a huge margine but i think the ps3 version will outsell the 360 version in europe and in japan by a much bigger maargine

First off the GTA games sold very well on the XBOX and PC as well as the PS2.

Advertising (And I am sure MS will do a lot of it) toughting the exclusive content will not be hard to find.

MS surely will drop price of 360 before GTA4 release.

360 version will be the sales leader and GTA4 will sell more 360's than PS3's.
