First of all, Sony doesn't need to sell more than the 3ds. That's an unrealistic feat brought up by people like you. Sony isn't expecting or should expect to sell on the same level as nintendo. That market has been dominated by nintendo 20 years before the PSP came to being. Selling 80mil first try is mission accomplished for Sony even though Nintendo sold more.

Secondly, Vita needs as much asaving now as the Ps3 needed in 2006. In other words, none. It needs to sell and make money. Even with a small userbase Sony and 3rd parties can be profitable with the machine as long as they know the market and have reasonable expectations.

lol. Yes, people like me. It's funny how a little over a year ago, Vita outselling the 3DS was an inevitability, and now it's "an unrealistic feat."

Of course, it is unrealistic now. Sony doesn't have to outsell the 3DS, and that's good, because they can't. What they do need is to sell well enough to stay afloat and continue receiving software support. They're not doing that right now. In order to do that, they need a price cut and a rebranding.

And sure the PS3 didn't need saving in 2006; that's why it got a price cut in 2007, right? Also note that I never said the Vita had to outsell the 3DS. It was the OP that stated Sony needs to make drastic changes to save the Vita.

You'e two links provide no evidence against what I said. Ps3 recieved a price cut in 2007 because drastic price reductions in blu-ray technology allowed them to be able to drop the price. They still were making loses but that doesn't change the fact that if the price reduction didn't exist they never would have done it. Exactly like the Vita will do next year. Not because it needs saving but because price reductions in HW manufacturing will allow them to reduce the price which will help them make more money.

The vita is not the only thing that needs a price cut unless they include a memory card with it. I would say 180 with memory card included would be good for it to bounce back a bit.

It might be too late by now though. The thing doesnt have any third party support.

even with a price drop, Vita still won't compete with 3ds. Vita will see a strong increase in demand though.

a price drop is needed, we'll likely see a drop to $199, or $179.

Oh yes it will. It is competing right now,although poorly.

It sold ok during christmas in the west and I assume they're waiting to see how t does in japan around march with like dozen solid release targeted for that period. Japan is definitely a wait and see, but they a need a price cut in west with no strong releases currently lined up for the whole of Q1. Although they may surprise us with GOW multiplayer crossbuy, a late march release for Soul Sacrfice and mayb late spring for Tearaway?

They really need to start working closely with 3rd party's bring really core franchises to the system,. Morrowind, GTA, maybe some PC centric titles like left for dead Vita. They need to convince the core gamer that are on a sites like this or who watch things like E3 and GT. But I believe that sony are being honest when they say this isn't a race, the Vita's hardware will be relavant for years to come and they could support it with games financed themselves and keep owners content with ps plus content and cross buy releases. I have around 4 PSVita games I can quite easily say that PS All stars is the favourite of the bunch and I got it free with the ps3 release ^_^. I also play it alot more on my Vita then my PS3

That was back when Vita and 3DS were supposed to be $250. Can you blame people for thinking Vita would outsell the 3DS? If 3DS didn't do a price cut maybe Vita would have.....anyway I don't see a price cut to $169.99 happening. That's just way too much. Expect it to be $199 at the lowest.

The Vita has sold much more slowly than the 3DS sold pre-price cut. It will take more than an $80 price cut to save the Vita, and frankly, Sony can't even afford that much.

Sony = Microsoft
3DS = PS3
Nintendo = Sony
PSP = Xbox

--> you must be blown away that MS managed to achieve just that within 2 generations.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

What the fuck are you talking about? MS doesn't even have a handheld because it would loose more money than the 360 did.

I figured out your code. However you are mistaken on so many levels.

i hope so. the sells war is where i'm hoping to see them compete, but Vita needs an ip that will solidify it as true comp. to 3ds.

Actully ur totaly wrong ! , i wouldnt buy a console over the other for like what 80$ difference and btw 3DS XL is 200$ so 50$ difference, the reason i got 3DS not Vita is cuz 3DS has alot of good games 1st and 3rd party , but vita doesnt really have any games except few of them like P4G , Gravity Rush......
