PSone alone sold 100 million when the market was much smaller considering the entire market the previous gen had been about 80 million. Playstation made gaming cool for everyone making these numbers for Microsoft and Nintendo possible. Of course Nintendo made those numbers possible through the NES bringing video games back before that so I guess MS is the only one that doesn't matter here.
