As I said, WiiU does OK in most regions, but can you do the same graph for Europe? In numbers it looks horrible.

It's not "OK" to pass the Wii, that's an understatement. And yes, in europe Wii U doesn't look good right now, but it's also not too far away from the pack.

Outside mario/land/MH, what are people buying with their Wii U? almost 400k sold in a week 3 titles out of 28 released showing up

A) vita had that same problem for which i'll give the same answer...

B) digital.  boxed games sales are in decline.  they just are.  still important but not longer the only important figure.  we can no longer simply trust boxed games sales to know how successful the game was.

I've done some calculations and it looks like Halo 4 will sell ~540k worldwide this week... 140k more than I predicted here!

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=149534

Pretty unbelievable! It'll be at about 6,450,000 copies sold with 3 weeks of sales left until the end of the year!

7.4m+ in 2012 seems inevitable

You do know that it was discounted in USA and not the rest of the world, so you can't apply the same boost elsewhere, correct?

Read the thread before posting stuff like this...ugh, I hate repeating myself. Anyway...

Last week Halo 4 sold 185k in non-US territories. If it sold that this week that would put Halo 4 at 510k WW. However, it'll sell more than 185k in non-US territories this week due to Xmas sales boosts. In fact, it'll sell at least 200k in non-US territories this week...putting it at AT LEAST 525k WW this week. Capiche?

FYI, it's also discounted in the UK.

Some titles are digital, but old Wii games also. Xenoblade is my example, is 75 this week and has been up dramatically WoW since the U launch. Also, Wii Sports and Resort are eerily high.

@think-man and bananaKing

If you go to the sales tools and use game comparison you can find the sales. Just type book of spells and set it to USA and VOILA!

With these numbers the Wii U has sold 1.8 million worldwide so far.

The 3DS is going to make an YoY over last year, as some people didn't expect it to.

Nice sales for Paper Mario

so anyone still think nintendo will hit their 5.5M march forcast?

also, fuck at 3DS sales.  outperformed my forcast by like 35k.   ...it looks like i'm going to lose my bet with POE.

If the Wii U sells like 500k + 500k + 200k it will be at 3m at the end of the year. If we assume 500k sales per month for the remainder of the fiscal year (roughly 100k units per week) that would add another 1.5m which would put it at 4.5 million units sold to customers - if Nintendo tries to stuff the channel a bit 5.5m shipped at the end of march wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility. The next two weeks will be telling.

Edit: And just to be clear: I don't expect them to meet the forecast. I wouldn't take a bet though.

the year just has two weeks left, this week its ending at the 15th. so it will be more like 500K +200K and end at 2.5 million. just thought i would point that out, unless your counting this weeks numbers into those 500k+500k+200K

your off on your number of week left in the year.  wiiU could do 500k next week (week ending in dec 22nd) then 200k (week ending in dec 29th, post western holidays but japan remains high). then we're post holidays and sales will be low for everyone.   so like 2.5M end of year sell though?  add 1M on shelves (stores will only let you stuff so much).   so wiiU will need about 1.5-2M sell though in jan/feb/march?  something like that?

You're right, I forgot the the 23rd was a sunday so no chance things will stay flat that week. I don't expect them to meet their target anyways - something like 4m sold to customers, 5m shipped maybe. Nintendo always expects sales to stay high without any games lol. They said they learned from the 3DS disaster but they really didn't - the Wii U release schedule is pretty barren next quarter. They even pushed Pikmin back...

The worst thing about that graph is that PS3 launched in March lol, vs. everyone else launching in November

Scary but I'd say the other consoles will be ahead if we extend this a couple months. Only goes towards disproving the poor start theory.

When was the last time no console sold a million+ during the holiday season?

edit: this late in the holiday season.  I suspect that next weeks numbers will have at least 1 system at 1 million

Your suspicions are invalid.

2011 Global - Dec 24th

1,072,725 - Xbox 360

885,066 - PS3

360 is down 33% globally and PS3 is down 25%.

In other words, not a snowballs chance in hell of any console over 1 million next week.

The Wii U is going to have a pretty nice bump early next year.  New Years Resolution + promise of fun and easy weight loss= sales.  Even if people have their balance board at home collecting dust they'll still buy it.  It's the way the industry works.  Won't be as big as the original but it will be pretty big.
