Forums - Gaming Discussion - Senator introduces bill to study violent games

Well, it's not like they can ban the sales unless they violate our amendments or requires us to have a license to purchase video games so meh. I say the old politician should just all have heart attacks and die, then we also should have a killer disease that only effects spoiled ass baby boomer gen's kids, then all is well.

Good. At last a proper study to put this bullshit to bed once and for all.

You didn't really think they'd commission a study where they didn't get exactly the answers they're looking for, did you?

Here's an advice.

Don't let stores sell mature rated games to kids. Make it the same as selling cigarettes to minors.

I like this idea? A comprehensive negative result commissioned by people desperate for a positive would be great to use if this comes up again.

You can't be serious.

There is ****-tons of research already. This is POLITICAL. This has ****-all to do with 'science'.

Good God, he's politicizing the shootings in CT *and* using videogames as a scapegoat and the best you can say is "hey, great, another study that, even if it says what gamers wnat it to, will be ignored...again" just like Lieberman and Clinton (hmm, what do Lieberman (at the time), Clinton, Leland Yee (Cali State Senator) and Rockefeller all share in common..hmmm) ignored all the research from the 90s in the early 00s, and Yee ignored in the late 00s.

...and not surprisingly it's a Democrat

well republicans go after video games too (not so much the libertarian leaning ones though), but for slightly different reasons.

most politicians are very ignorant of things... especially guns and games.

Well this can be applied to socity as a whole. Its easier to find a scape goat then to try and find the real problem and correct it. One facebook Samuel L Jackson made a post that caught the ire of the posters. He said basically to stop blaming guns, games etc and the lack of socity and the parents in instilling respect of human life into the next generation. (He posted that he grew up in an area where there where a lot of guns but little homocide because they use to respect their fellow man.) And when the problem is directed at you it hurts but only by asking what you can do better to prevent things like this, will things ever get better.

What would be the point of the study though? Violent video games aren't made for children anyway. That's like having a study on how chocolate effects dogs.

I am the Playstation Avenger.

They are attacking video games, what a surprise! But it's too funny that it's linked to the school shooting in Connecticut, the guy was even a kid, he was 20 years old. And if they don't want kids playing violent video games (they are not for kids anyway), then they should review the rating system first
