GTA is a fairly popular game (approximately as popular as Mario Kart) that people are assuming will somehow magically sell many times as many boxes as Halo 3 sold.  But it won't have an effect on the Wii and will probably sell fewer consoles than Halo 3 did.  There is very little reason to believe otherwise.

Cool. And for it even being close to DS is a feat in itself. Good job Wii. Of course it is worthy to note that Wii got to be in 2 holiday seasons while PS2 was only in 1 in the same timeframe. Although I guess it levels out that Wii was supply constrained.

It's definitely more casual than Halo 3.  In fact, I'd argue that *most* GTA3 players were more along the lines of casual gamers.  Not the kind of people who'd pay $460 or even $360 for the GTA experience, but the kind who'd buy it if they had the console or already planned on getting the console.

The 360 was already $280 on the Halo 3 launch and it didn't move a ton of units.

i agree, GTA is for casuals as well.....

but i hope Nintendo increases the Wii supply.....

i wonder what people who say "wii won't last" have to say...... :P (no offence)

Wii future is predicted to be bright, with SSBB, Mario Kart and Wii Fit, mayby No More Heroes and Tales of Symphonia 2......2008 might be the best year for Wii!!! : )

well reasoned by Machina-AX, without a noticeable step up in graphics, the main difference is gameplay, and how much more will there to be put into that after 5 years?

i thnk it will last... it's something totally new, if 3rd party learned at last how to use wii-remote benefit for their games.....it will be much better

  brawl is released far earlier then GTA (isn't it?) so why would they have it releasing later for POST-gta? I mean what has GTA to do with brawl releasing a month later? (unless you mean when gta was still scheduled as a spring title, back in novermber).

 bad street brawler and super glove ball were the only 2 games I know of designed for that little piece of awesome,

though I would recommend using it to play contra and ninja gaiden, synergizism of awesome

GTA? How will that affect Wii, GTA has no Wii fit capabilities

 Yes, remember Munkeh111 that no one on earth will want anything besides WiiFit this year, so GTA will sell 5000 copies this year. Oh! There is one other thing they want; Super Smash Brothers Brawl! Did I get it right?
