Forums - Nintendo Discussion - SSB4 Thoughts! (Differences between 3DS and Wii U versions)

This is just to discuss on what the new SSB4 will bring to each console. Will it be the same exact copy? If different explain how you think why. Lets Discuss One of the Biggest Killer games coming to Wii U and 3DS hopefully 2014!

Around the Network

I'd imagine that the 3DS version will be a downscaled, yet similar version to the Wii U. I don't think it will try to be its own unique game. That being said, it would be more interesting if it did try to do its own thing.

I hope SSB4 brings more of the original "POW!" back into the series that disappeared after the first game. But, since i know that won't happen, I'm instead going to say I at least hope it brings back the fast paced and very technical skill-driven battles that SSBM had.

I imagine Nintendo will do something similar to Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate where you can send your save file between both system and play in either of them. Other than that I can only think of using the 3DS as an extra controller, not sure what other uses Nintendo will do with both systems in terms on connectivity.

Either way I think both games will be pretty much the same, but I was thinking about making some characters exclusive to one version over another which actually scares me, both versions should have the exact same characters.

Nintendo and PC gamer

I once heard a rumor that the 3DS' characters will have a retro look while WiiU will have more modern HD look. This is a interesting idea.

What?! I can't hear you over all this awsome! - Pyrrhon (Kid Icarus:Uprising)

Final Ultimate Legendary Earth Power Super Max Justice Future Miracle Dream Beautiful Galaxy Big Bang Little Bang Sunrise Starlight Infinite Fabulous Totally Final Wonderful Arrow...FIRE! - Wonder-Red (The Wonderful101)

I hope the 3DS game is a different game, just like say Sonic generations.

Theres no point in releasing a downscaled versions of HD software on the portables. It doesnt work for the Vita, i dont see why it would for the 3DS. I'm sure nintendo knows that aswell and will make a game with a different twist on the 3DS.

Around the Network

If i remember correctly, Iwata said the two games won`t be the same. If i`m correct, i don`t think he was talking about visuals (really like what Metrium said).

I`m guessing that the 3DS versions is going to feature some RPG elements. Fighting people through streetpass or online will update your fighter and such.
Basically, like every online game.

Good qyestions! I just hope they are both good!

You are on a roll with your threads tbone :)

The next game should play different and really a smart thing to do is release SSB4 on 3DS 1st IMO. Maybe like 3-6months apart? We can play the hell out of SSB4 and get all unlockables. 3DS will sell like hot cakes, Smart move on Nintendo because your not clustered of buying 2games (Some people might be different EX: I have a brother so i actually will need 2 copies of the 3DS version).

I imagine 3DS will have upgrades and stats for characters, then when wii u version comes out it will be massive! I think if nintendo does this right they can make the wii u surpass SSBB in sales and have SSB4 3DS sell close to 20mil!
Omg make it happen sakurai!!!

nothing wrong with exclusive content, but cross-play is also a good thing.  it's pretty cool to play PSASBR on the ps3 and just pick up where i left off when i travel to my mother in laws place.
