Pokemon has been the king of handhelds (nintendo's at least) over 15years now. Lets talk about everyone's favorite generation and why you chosen it. First these are the sales of all the mainstream games.

1 Pokémon Red / Green / Blue Version GB 1996 31.37
2 Pokémon Gold / Silver Version GB 1999 23.10
3 Pokémon Diamond / Pearl Version DS 2006 18.04
4 Pokémon Ruby / Sapphire Version GBA 2002 15.85
5 Pokémon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition GB 1998 14.64
6 Pokémon Black / White Version DS 2010 14.53
7 Pokémon Heart Gold / Soul Silver Version DS 2009 11.46
8 Pokémon FireRed / LeafGreen Version GBA 2004 10.49
9 Pokémon Platinum Version DS 2008 7.51
10 Pokémon Emerald Version GBA 2004 6.41
11 Pokémon Crystal Version GB 2000 6.39
12 Pokemon Black / White Version 2 DS 2012 5.53

All generations sold very well but my question to you is what was the best? What brought the most to the table. Here's My Take on each then decide for yourselves (unless you already voted).

Gen 1.
Original pretty much sums it up. This game took most of us by storm, it was everywhere, everyone wanted it. As a kid you ask for it from your mom who used to say Why Poke'MAN (thats not a typo). Best looking pokemon in the series IMO.

Gen 2.
First sequel another thing that adds this up! A bonus of 100 pokemon to catch introducing shiny garydos (this is a typo), Great music and best OST in the Series IMO, and returning to my old region was a blast with 16gyms.
Who can forget the best battle evaaa.... RED!

Gen 3. Most underrated but non the less fantastic. gave so many more pokemon, great region (my favorite in the series), brought in double battles which is standard in tournament play now a days, battle frontier and pokemon contest. This gen also featured so much water, too much water lol. The best legendaries are in this region too (no one can top mewtwo or mew though)

Gen 4
This gen brought back more fans of the original two. This gen had alot to offer and pretty much enhanced everything better. Good things to note is pokemon in this gen. So many cross evolutions that made forgetable pokemon get a chance. (Yamega, Mamoswine,Gallade). This gen definitely brought good things overall!

Gen 5.
This gen known as the reboot has introduced many things. First the bad things are bad pokemon designs. That said it brought triple and rotation battles which is freaking crazy! More strategy completly plays different from reg and double battles. Another weird but good thing this brought was powerful pokemon, very powerful pokemon, the bugs are freaking strong.

So with all this said which is the best?

Around the Network

The original is what started it for me and nothing can beat the original. The first 151 pokemon were/are the best. I still enjoy Gold/Sliver and Ruby/Sapphire. After that I feel like the series went down hill, I still enjoy Pokemon XD on the Gamecube from time to time.

I know most people go with gen 1 (i did also). Everyone loves original? Pls when you post explain why you like that gen the most

My personal favorite is Ruby, but I would say the original generation. Diamond/Pearl generation makes me want to throw up a little.

Hopefully Gen 6 on 3DS can make a huge comeback ( Great game quality and pokemon just like first 2 gens). If they do it right it can be a bigger hit than gen 4 and 5

If we overlook the fact that Pokémon Red/Blue/Green started it all, I would say that the generation 2 games were the greatest.

Two new Pokémon types, type match up adjustments, Pokémon were able to carry items, revisiting the Kanto region, etc. The game brought so much new for the better and kept literally everything that made its prequel so great intact

Not to mention that the first two generations clearly had the superior Pokémon design...

in my opinion gen II will always be my fav(with gen 3 being a real close 2nd)

I just love the fact that you could travel between to of the Pokemon regions which some reason unknown Gamefreak has yet to to with any of there other entries.

my least favorite was gen V, the Pokemon just weren't that great, it took some major grinding to get a sufficient party until like the 5-6th badge(or you were lucky to get Pokemon from a person farther ahead then you)

I think Gen 6 will bring alot to the table next. Like how gen 2 was to the original, gen 6 will be to gen5! Cross evolution, extra region to explore, new type Light. Let a gamer dream!!!

I hope Gen 6 makes a comeback, I bought every Pokemon game to date and I won't say I wasn't satisfied, but it's nothing like the first 2 Generations. The first Gen bought the first 151 memorable Pokemon and Gen 2 brought the first time we seen two regions and 16 badges.

I just hope, I won't say the obvious a year from now once Gen 6 comes out for the 3DS. Which, would be the first time they added 3D to a non spin-off Pokemon game. Has anyone played the 3DS Pokemon Mystery Dungeon game yet, is it out?

I hope there is some connectivity between the Wii U and the 3DS.

Dont worry about mystery dungeon anytime soon. It came out for Japan only 1ST (as does every game). Yea the pokemon gen 5 story i like especially bw2. I get wat you mean the games are great but watered down especially gen 5

EX super mario 64 into Super Sunshine(great game but nothing like 64)
They need to make it a SMG!!! (improvement wise) If they do 3DS will get such a huge freaking boost
