fair but I wasn't saying PS3 would sell that much.  I'm merely looking at the decline.  Looks like PS2 stayed the same the first year a next gen console was out and then went down about 2 million the next year.  We're dealing with smaller numbers but I'll say PS3 maintains that trend or even goes down a million in 2013 (which I don't think will happen with the big $199 price cut coming  and 5 awesome looking exclusives coming in the first half, but we'll give you the benefit of the doubt).  Let's say it ends up at 11 million this year (consevative estimate).  Then it goes to 10 million next year.  Then 8 million the next year.

I said, i am optimistic with PSP/ PSV, but 360 could be well over 100 Million if more 360´s die a ROD or people refuse to buy the successor (COD, AC,...)! But perhaps you are right! But i think its fair tu assume that 360/ PS3 will fight for 2nd place! The Wii stays first! PSP should not surpass DS (:))!

let's not forget that successors are strongly rumored to be coming next year.  Sony has consistently supported their consoles for at least 10 years while Microsoft will most likely pull an original xbox and cut support to get people to switch over.  Then again they don't have a big track record so maybe they will support the more successful 360.  I just think that 360 is already dropping so severely throughout the year that as soon as it's not a hot holiday item (aka when all the next gen is out especially for MS) then it will really plummet.

I dont think microsoft will abandon 360 as quick as the original xbox, at least not in NA. Its got alot of 3rd party supprt next year and i assume it will still get some major releases and kinect games in 2014. I think 2015 will be its final year.

10 year cycle? Microsoft HAS abdoned the 360! Tell me wich EXCLUSIVE GAMES come out in 2013? I know only 1 (!) Gears of War Judgement! Look at E3: Microsoft has abdoned it!! @PSP: I was very optimistic! It has 7 years by now! Mark my words: "Sony will NEVER keep the PSP alive for another 5 years!!" I think PSP could be the first Sony console without a 10 year live cycle! If they really try to catch DS they must be on heorine, extacy and LSD at the same time! This would be like if Ireland would try to attack China! (DS is China)

um since when does 10-7=5?  They will let the third parties support it for 3 years and kill it off and they aren't trying to catch DS they just want to make a few bucks on their old hardware and continue to get royalties for software from an 80 million strong base

It would be an interesting threat with the topic: Can PSP surpass GBA? I think 81,5 Million seems realistic! But the PSP will struggle to even reach 77 Million!

Sorry of course 7+3! I was just thinking of the PSone and the PS2 wich both had a 12 year life cycle! But the PSP will be the first Sony console wich will definitly not pass 100 million! If yes i will drink a big beer- and i am ANTI ALCOHOLIC!!
