As I was saying, and to address those "quoting" me on saying this is a great success, please show me where I'm actually quoted as saying it. If not, feel free to reread the OP and come to terms with the fact that all I'm saying is that vita was able to hold out. Stop making accusations like "oh they would have dropped the price" etc etc.

You did say it was a success. The word "outlasted" literally means beat. Your title says the Vita has proved itself superior to the 3DS. Call it a simple case of not knowing what a word means on your part, but the proof is right there. If not, the title you chose is nothing more than a simple case of baiting people who disagree with you into an argument. Follow that with you going on the offensive when people call you out on your clearly asinine topic and we have ourselves a bad case of the trolls... or an even worse case of being delusional.

And that means I said vita was a success?

And if it doesn't then I'm simply a troll?

Maybe you should read exactly what is written instead of reading too deeply into things.

Vita outlasted 3ds. I'm saying Vita is not a failure, given that 3ds had an earlier price cut and is fine. I don't think the logic is too hard to follow.

Black Friday is a prime example that the demand for ps vita is there. I think most people is waiting for that sweet price spot

The HP Touchpad fire-sale is a prime example that the demand for the HP Touchpad was there. I think most people was waiting for that sweet price spot.

maybe you should look up the word demand, instead of making sarcastic remarks.

This thread shows that demand for 3ds and vita pre-price cuts, were similar.

demand= price×sales

AAahh, and there we go. The fail that is economics.

There is more to the equation than pricexsales at least add consumer appeal to that... but we all know the pure economics are the recipe for disaster. Humans arent math numbers, they are more complex than 2 variables.

Thread this sense doesn't any make.

I understand your logic and can see that your OP wasn't trolling (despite seeming like it at first glance). I understand, the Vita did not "need" a pricecut.

But as pezus and I said, it all depends on the company's goals and options. Nintendo had a much higher goal and set the measure to achieve it. Had they not had that goal, there would not have been a pricecut and their sales trends would have yet surpassed the Vita's, at a higher price (50$ no less: 250$ for 3DS vs 200$ for Vita).

Then, we have Rol's post that shows that the Vita, at that price, performed below Sony's expectations.  Moreover, it's not clear Sony even had the option to reach their initial goal, if they could afford the loss-leading measure.

I mean, you can look at it with rose-tinted glasses, but the facts are in front of us.

Funny use of numbers to paint a better picture. It is bad, very bad if you take into account what happened after 5 months. To be honest, the only hope the Vita has is that Assassins creed liberation is doing well.

But, it doesnt change the fact that even with a price-cut things mightnot improve much because you always have to add the memory card price to that. The system should never have used such expensive tech has it has. Totally disconnected from the real economy.

Vita had relatively high costs at launch, but it uses mainstream integrated components (most are smartphone tech, while the rear touch panel is mainstream tech mostly used in notebook PCs, while sticks and button is the usual low tech found in portable consoles and in controllers for home consoles and PCs and also in many other devices) that drop in price  quite fast. At launch the most advanced of all this stuff could be considered medium-high end, now they are quite mid-range, next year they will be mainstream. Thanks to avoiding chosing exotic tech, the high cost problem is destined to remain so only for the short time needed to drop enough in price.

The PS-Vita "outlasted" the 3DS at the same price because Sony simply can not afford a price cut at the moment, and they're more focused on short term survival than long term sales. While the PS-Vita would be in a far better position had Sony cut the price by $100, Sony simply can not afford the $500 Million+ revenue loss that would (probably) represent.

HUGE damage control right here.

Sony had a choice? Lol. Nope.

Always good for a laugh actually. This is why I always come to the site now, for a good laugh.

what an amazing achievement!

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

Yeah but how much profit is Sony making for each Vita console sold?

I'm sure Nintendo made a ton of profit at its original price point for each 3DS that was sold.

I originally thought this was just a baiting thread for some reaction to get some people banned as is the norm from a few posters these days, particulatly where sony fans are trying to wind ninty fans up, but no, t's actually a serious view on matters.  Wow.  New levels of spin.

The vita is a disaster. It's managed a slight arousal after slashing prices HEAVILY during this holiday period so far.  So no, it didn't hold out actually, and when they succumbed they still failed.... Dismally.
