this somewhat states that epic is working on a new gears game dont you guys think? if he wanted to be remembered for something else and epic were working on a new IP then he wouldnt have had to leave right?

also cliify b and David Jaffe working together would be realllllyyyyy interesting !!

Without a doubt.  There is something going on internally at EPIC and i think it has something to do with MSFT.  I hope they leave Gears alone though because I really dont see how they could make the story go any farther without screwing it up.  Cliff planned it to be a trilogy which is why it ended the way it did.

i didnt play gears though i honestly would love to, but my point it i didnt know how it ended so i cant say. but as for leaving gears alone, i really doubt it. dont want to start shit but MS is known to milk their franchises, just look at forza and halo (note this has nothing to do with quality but has to do with release schedule's) and some franchises that are supposed to be triologies end up having a lot more sequals, just look at mass effect,  ME3 hasnt been on the market for a year and EA are already talking about a new one, wasnt it just supposed to be triology? my point is big companies dont care about the story or the game, they will just keep pushing them out until it stops selling, sadly. it would be a shame if that happened to gears, it should be what it creators want it to be, not what some bussines men say

also if MS would buy gears that would hurt the industery on so many levels, i really hope they dont

I know they milk their franchises.  All publisers are doing this now it seems.  Ubisoft - assassins creed, Activision - Call of Duty EA - Battlefield Sony- God of War Nintendo -Mario MSFT - Halo ........And this list goes on and on with every publisher unfortunately.

MSFT already owns Gears of War and they could pass it on to a new studio if they want.  What would be a problem for the industry is if MSFT buys EPIC.  EPIC is huge with the Unreal Engine so that is kind of scary if they acquire them.  I dont think they would make the Unreal Engine exclusive though.  Im all up for MSFT buying new studioes but EPIC is too big in my opinion for anybody to own.  That would be like buying Bethesda.

EDIT: You dont have to worry about argueing with me.  Im not someone who will defend someone because of what company they are.  I just want people to tell the truth or be accurate about what they say and you pointed something out accurately

ohh shit i ment if MS buy epic not gears!! im gonna edit my post

and its not about epic, its about unreal like you said, i doubt MS wouldnt do anything to how unreal is being handled, i think they would either make it exclusive or make it really or too expensive to develop on competing consoles. it would hurt too many studio's and sadly cripple the development of one of the best engines in the indusrty, it would harm the industery so much.

and i dont need to worry about argueing with you, you're one of the most sensable people on this site and you have a brad pit fight club avatar, your avatar makes you too awesome to argue with. its just other people on this site are willing to argue over anything, just look at the 8th of december numbers thread

@Jaywood

Yeah, I might have to get a used 360 in the future to play it. I think there's a chance I could enjoy Alan Wake as well.

I've seriously been wanting to at least see gears for like 4-5 yrs. About 3 yrs ago, my friends brother had gears 2 for his 360, so he popped it in for me to show me. I was finally going to get to see it in action. The scene started to load, and he was just about to be able to begin playing...when his 360 RROD'd. Right then and there! I was so mad haha - was like some sort of cruel joke. Yet to play it now 3 yrs later.

lol that's bad luck.  Try getting a newer model of the 360, they dont have hardware issues anymore.  Just get the arcade model.  it's less than 200 now I think?  You dont need kinect.

Alan Wake is ehh.  The story line is really interesting the way it's told but overall it's gameplay is just average.  The metacritic is pretty accurate on it.  If you like arcade games then there is a ton like Shadow Complex, FEZ, Trials, minecraft, etc.  im assuming you dont play PC so there is games like Left 4 Dead.  If you like Gran Turismo def get Forza, you will be shockingly surprised.

What kind of games do you like?  I dont want to recommend you anything that you dont care about

Yeah it really would screw up the industry.  One reason it is so good too is because it is cheap so about any company can use it because it keeps costs down while maintaining a good look.  Hopefully the new Unreal Engine will be cheap too.  I dont know if the Cryengie or Frostbite engine is cost effecient but they look nice too.

The first rule is we do not talk about.....lol

well from what i noticed frosbite has been exclusive to games that are published by EA, i dont know if that is the case or not though. but the most well spread and most used engine is unreal, and people have spent years using it and there for can handle it pretty good and make the best out of it. cryengine has been trying to take some market share from unreal from what i noticed as well, so if MS do buy epic and mess with unreal i think crytek would try to swoop in and replace unreal, but for a lot of devs it would take a lot of time learning cryengine when they could be making better games with the engine they know (unreal)

Hmm that is true.  I forgot that Frostbite is EA.  You know who I think needs to make engine tools?  Naughty Dog lol  Could just be there excellent team but whatever engine they use it works well lol

I think you are right, but it may also be that he wants to try other genres and that's why he mentions Spielberg, that has done from comedies to war movies.

So maybe he wants to do an adventure game like Uncharted, or an open world sandbox, or an RPG, for example. Genres that he can't do at Epic.

Anyway, I wish him luck. Let's hope he succeds and makes a game that we all can enjoy.

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

Steven Spielberg made E.T?

j/k. i like cliffyB so i'm excited to see what he comes up with next.

maybe, hopefully as well it would be nice if talented teams are let to work on the stuff they want, not the stuff they are told to work on. but honestly i wish hum luck because he is one of the most video game developers i like, even though sometimes he can be annoying but he mostly speaks his mind and isnt like most of the indusrty who just talk PR shit. he says what he thinks and i like that

I thought Epic always owned Gears? when did MS get the rights to the gears IP? it must have been recently
