Yes, so that means if sony holds off on releasing a game they finished, the studio is still on the hook for salaries and upkeep without having the benefit of revenue from a game they made.  Do you see how that kind of behavior might sour a relationship?

Hum... Do you have any idea what you are talking about?

The people working daily on games, get their salaries every weeks. Just like anybody else.  ¬_¬

Lol, did you read what I said?  Those salaries dont come from thin air man since quantum dream is not owned by sony, those salaries are paid to the employees by quantum dream.  Now sony financed their game, which means the developer got some money from sony to keep them going until the game is complete.  This money is generally paid out in installments based on progress on the games development.  Now, if the game is completed, those payments from sony end.

Of course, this is all a moot point because my main point I was trying to make is that sony will keep releasing ps3 games after the ps4 comes out so the release datefor beyond two souls doesnt correlate with the ps4 launch at all.

What a poor administrator must be running the company, if they run out of cash all the time like this and can't afford to pay their employees. ¬_¬

Do I really need to explain this to you?  Most companies have consistent revenue, a game developer does not.

Indeed. The only cash flow coming into the company comes from Sony.

Damn, it must be really difficult to pay the rent for their office at times.

If you can't do 1+1, that's not really my fault. xD

Sly, GOW Ascension, Last of US releasing in the first half of 2013 is a wacky business decision. Especially last of Us...that game has holiday blockbuster written all over it.

If Beyond is also first half of 2013, then PS4 is fall release.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Please. It's not even a match. He says that Quantic Dream's (yes, Quantic, not Quantum) venture with Sony could get sour if Sony decides to hold the release of Beyond for a strategic moment of the year. Arguing that Sony is the source of income and that they only pay them here and there during some key moments of the production process... How is this even supposed to be a match.

Quantic Dream gets money from selling tools and their expertise to assist other developers, they get money from their Motion Capture services that they offer to movie productions, among other things. And indeed, they get their cut from the games they sell via Sony's publishing (Heavy Rain). Sony is one of the funder for QD's PS3 games, of course. But to say that holding the release of a finished Beyond: Two Souls would turn their partnership sour because of a now extinct flow of money into the studio is a short sighted look at how things work.

I do agree with what you are saying. David Cage has said multiple times that he has a strong relationship with Sony. I don't think Sony would force Quantic Dream to do anything. The studio isn't even owned by Sony so it's not like hese saying this just to keep his "owners" happy.

I wouldn't be surprised if Sony bought them in the near future.

The release dates of 2013 title has nothing to do with the launch of ps3. like the guy above me pointed out, GOW2 came out AFTER Ps3 is out, it's perfectly fine to do so...especially if they make PS4 backwards compatible.

of course it does! if the PS3 had not released in 2007 there would be no release dates for 2013

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”
