Forums - Sales Discussion - PlayStation 3 – Sony cancels console certification for China

While I do not usually post about consoles, an interesting news popped up in the China gaming forums today. With some neat CSI skills, a gamer found out that Sony Computer Entertainment has cancelled its 3C certification bid to finally launch PlayStation 3 in China, with the cancellation taking place on 29th November 2012.

3C certification is usually based on the product’s quality, and even if the certification is obtained, it does not mean the product is finally cleared to go on sale in China. According to the data over at the website for China Quality Certification Center, the model specifications fit those of PS3 systems.

I remember Microsoft tried(360),Nintendo tried(Wii) either i think, but seems like chinese gov still sucks

But maybe sony can try with PSV,since DS and 3DS already selling in china

well, better luck next gen.

Missed opportunity, but hey, with the recent PS3 sales, the PS3 keeps on proving it can sell tens of millions of units before moving to emerging markets.

lolwut

No one in China wants a PS3 when they can have a Winner.

DOOMED

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

I think this is a good idea. China has waaayy to much pirating and I always thought the PS3 would have never sold decent number there (at least not software wise).
