Forums - Sales Discussion - It has only just hit me how ridiculous it is that the Wii is STILL sold out

Ipod is much much easier to manufacture than the wii.

Possibly, but at the time, the parts of the iPod were still very rare. Much rarer than any part of the Wii, actually.

Nintendo never ceases to amaze me.... I am glad for them, they have stayed the course making TOP quality videogames for 25 years and now are finally being rewarded.

(applause for big N)

Well, let's not get over our heads here. I think that the most reasonable amount of Wii's that could have been sold WW if there were no shortages could've benn some 23-24 million units. More than that is pure science fiction.

I usually agree with your posts, but this one is purely guesswork (which is fine, as long as you don't end it with a claim like that one).

My Mario Kart Wii friend code: 2707-1866-0957

I am not shocked - but was ROTFL when parents contacted me the week before Christmas and asked me how they could land a wii.

My response? At gunpoint, with some crackeads or a brick.

That's a complete guess. We have no idea what the current level of demand really is, or how demand would have been affected by the existance of more Wiis.

The Wii sells itself, remember -- when people try it, they buy it. More Wiis = more "word of mouth" (and "try it to buy it") marketing. Perhaps Nintendo could have sold twice as many in the US if they were available.

No one knows. All estimates are really guesses, educated or not. It looks to me like you simply said, "eh, it could've sold maybe 20% more."

The DS' demand is insane, but the Wii's demand levels have surpassed it everywhere but in Japan for the same time frame.   And in Japan, it's close.

seriously the wii has set the bar so high for a launch

It is a truly interesting situation, the wii has more demand than any console i've ever witnessed.

Note: Some games in my collection are no longer owned, but have owned.

What I find even funnier is - folks on craigslist flagging Wii ads down that are scalpers. It's a hoot. I love how the folks that flag the ads down then TAUNT the scalpers. It's hella funny to watch ...

Sorry Wo, that's a guess at best
