You can read the review here.
"Mass Effect’s gameplay is unashamedly stuck in 2007. It’s unpolished, frustrating, and much of it feels unnecessary. Fortunately, the plot and writing are enough to carry the experience. If you've already dipped into either of the series' superior sequels, prepare for a learning curve if you absolutely must explore the franchise's roots."
Stuck in 2007? This guy compares a direct port of Mass Effect 1 to it's sequels and pennilizes it for not being up to par with current games. Um, last time I checked, it's not supposed to be up to par with current day games. That makes literally no sense at all. I've never heard of "Pushsquare.com" but obviously, this is why.
He gave it a 6/10.

Ya, I don't understand why people penalize a game by comparing it to others in the series. Review it for what it is, its own game. I can only see this happen if it was a drastic change to the game and wasn't like the others in the series.
I've played about 3 hours of mass effect and I have only had a few problems like no talking when shepards lips move. It's great so far and am finally glad I can play it on my ps3.

While I agree that it's not fair to compare to ME2 and ME3, the fact that it's not any better than the 5 year old 360 version is quite bad, definitely a game that deserved to be polished with love.

It's not worse. It's exactly the same. Many ports follow this idea to "preserve the original". I have no problem with it unless the original had serious gameplay/presentation flaws, which the 360 version did not. You can still play through the game.

Where did I say it was worse? "Not any better" != worse. Also, that's a load of nonsense, not fixing framerate issues and long loading to preserve the original?! Gimme a break.

Well obviously, they could have taken the time to make an improved port, fixed the framerate/loading times a bit ect.... But, most developers don't take that time so it's not really out of the ordinary, is all I'm trying to convey.

You're concerned about framerate? I'm worried about those damn elevator rides!

I understand taking points for performance issues, but not because the gameplay is stuck in 2007, that's just stupid...
