Forums - Gaming Discussion - Is Final Fantasy XIII-3 really needed?

Yes. I need Lightning, badly.

I wish they'd stop making any other FF games and only develop FFXIII-? games.

But XIII was still a lot better than XIII-2, so I hope XIII-3 is more like the first (well it has more Lightning so it's looking better already).

I liked both Final Fantasy XIII and XIII-2, and I'm looking forward to the third game...

I honestly enjoyed XIII more, but same here.

Yeah, and y'know what? I can honestly say that Final Fantasy XIII is one of my favourite Final Fantasy games in the series... right below IV. XIII-2 was good, but I didn't enjoy it anywhere near as much as XIII, but it was still enjoyable...

I really do think people hate on these games just because it's the cool thing to do... just like with Call of Duty.

oh no you didn't, tough guy... there goes your chartz-cred!

(ofcourse i'm just kidding)

Final Fantasy IV = Sequel

Final Fantasy VII = Sequel

Final Fantasy X = Sequel

Final Fantasy XIII = Sequel

Notice a pattern...?

You know what I mean. X-2, XIII-2 and XIII-3 deviates from the sequel pattern you described.

I know, but still ;p

Also there is no XIII-3 - its called Lightning Returns.

Final Fantasy XVI-2 confirmed!

XIII-3 is probably being made on the cheap if it's coming out in 2013. It'll probably sell 2 million copies again. So yeah, considering it's easy money for SE, I'd say it's needed in this economy. Of course, I'd also say that they need to start porting more of the old FF games to other consoles and maximize their profit, but SE isn't really taking advantage of being a multiplat company. Their loss I suppose.

so I'm a few hours into FF13-2 and I still don't know why they didn't just let it end, there was no point to 13-2 at all, 13 ended just fine, they should have pulled their resources for something new and exciting, but this is the new SE I guess, sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..................

Thats like asking was Star Wars ep1,2,3 needed? or Indiana Jones Crystal Skull? Or another season of Simpsons..etc.

I think SE learned from the American Culture to milk a series/franchise to oblivion instead of making a master piece and call it quits.

Star Wars prequels weren't that bad.  Not great by any means, but certainly not the terrible franchise destroying entries people make them out to sound like.

Crystal Skull was better than temple of Doom, and aside from the nuclear testing site scene was just as good as Last Crusade or Raiders.  Well, not QUITE, but comparably.  If you actually think 'aliens' is any more out of place than 'religious artifacts' or 'voodoo chiefs', I've got some sad news for you.

The Simpsons is as good as it's ever been.  Kind of getting sick of people saying new simpsons sucks just becuase it's not as biting and risque as it used to be (comparatively).  the writing and humor are still easily some of the best on television, and no amount of 'it was better in the 90's' nostalgia will change that.

I thought Lightning Returns was said to be more like a action RPG similar to Kingdom Hearts o.o.

Yeah, from what I've been lead to believe, it'll be the most different of the XIII's. It sounds like it will have no real party members and might have in-field battles (it's been a while since I checked info on it though so don't quote me), plus the whole time thing will add a very different dynamic to it.

But atleast Star Wars and Indiana Jones sold well and was well received but FFXIII was horrible with the first and second one, how can a third help anything?
