I agree, maybe their motivation is acquiring more teams for other projects that will attract MS and Sony consumers.  Would be funny if they took Sonic away from them and did it themselves.

Taking Sonic away would be the one reason I would want this to happen.  I have no doubt that Nintendo could make a better Sonic game than Sega.

Really, though, this would only be a big deal in Japan.  Most of the rest of the world wouldn't even know anything had happened.  Sega is not even close to being the property they once were.  At the moment, they have very few franchises of high value.  I can't even guess how this would effect some of the publishing contracts they have.  And how would it work with several new games releasing on other systems?  That would be awkward.

i guess the biggest benefit would be trying to secure the Wii U over PS4 in Japan

Here is an example:

HHG made several videos talking about Bungie had said they were fed up with Halo, and only made more just to sell copies, so Bungie responded on his site

hiphopgamer make 2 vids calling Bungie inspired by Sony and losing their passion for Halo (Only sells for it's Name)

Bungie finally admits that they had to up the ante on the Halo franchise instead of using just the Halo brand name to sell game copies.

So Bungie Responded

I'm just posting to inform you that nowhere ever has Bungie said anything that is alleged in this video. Obviously as a developer you keep your eye on what's going on around you; after all, we're all gamers ourselves.

The 'news' tagline of this story however is: 'Bungie finally admits that they had to up the ante on the Halo franchise instead of using just the Halo brand name to sell game copies.'

You then go on to say 'this is incredible news'. Your title also claims 'Sony inspired bungie's Halo Reach Development.'

To reiterate, we always look at other games almost on a subconscious level. We're always playing the latest releases, just like any other gamers are. So in that way we're naturally inspired simply by the everyday progress of the industry itself. Nowhere did we say we have been specifically 'inspired' by anything however.

Frankly, HipHopGamer, if it were up to me i'd have you sued for making up nonsense like this and presenting it as news, but unfortunatley i doubt the brass at Bungie care enough to even bother.

If anyone was going to buy Sega it would be Microsoft. They hare worked very closely in the past and MS could use the foothold in Japan. Nintendo doesn't need Sega and wouldn't want it either.

As for the hip hop gamer. He is a joke. Seems like a nice guy, but I don't take anything he says seriously.

Sony should buy Sega, now that would be awesome.

Sonic on Sony-only systems would give them quite an edge.

I can only dream about a hack'n slash 3D Golden Axe (God of War style, but coop) with Kratos as a playale char.

why would any company want to acquire sega?

Nintendo has been "in a position" to aquire Sega for years. I don't see it happening though.

I think they've been quietly shopped for while now.

Dude just relies on conformation bias. Say a large mass of BS, some of which is likely to be true... then wait as everybody forgets the 90% of BS that was wrong, and remembers the 10% of BS that's right.

@hiphopGamer

As long as Yakuza 5 and Phantasy Star Online 2 are both released in the US before it happens, I couldn't care less.

Imagine if they would buy Square Enix! o_O Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Star Ocean and Dragon Quest only on Nintendo systems - Japan domination confirmed
