Nintendo does need a big game for the Wii U next Christmas but it CAN NOT be Mario Kart or a Zelda game. They really can't pull that off again.

Agree with it can't be Zelda....  However, Mario Kart?  That is one the biggest game series ever.  They need to drop Mario Kart. I think you are wrong with they can't pull that off again.

Don´t they always say that whenever they launch a system?

I didn´t feel momentum was maintained 'for the duration of the N64, GameCube and Wii'.

I think it was fine for gamecube. N64 yes because nintendo backed their own gaps with rare's games. Wii however.

One more thing to complete my year = senran kagura localization =D

The problem with Wii U launch is there are just too many ports of games that came out on PS360 already. No coincidence Zombi U is the second best selling title.

Nintendo really needs to come with it in 2013. And I think they need something huge for next Xmas.

The bulk of the third-party stuff is titles they have on other platforms.  That is the norm for third-party these days, as they almost never do console exclusives.  What they had tried to do is add tweaks that are U specific.  But the bulk was close to same time releases, or highly praised titles with enhancements to them.  Not sure one is going to see much in the way of third-party exclusives for the Wii U though.  I also thought the idea of the Wii U was to allow Nintendo to get third-party titles they were missing.

No one has had launch time woes of performing worse then a 7 year old console....That's  a new one. The PS3 and 360 did not have that problem...

That's not true.  The PS360 were both outclassed by a PS2 that was coming off of a dominant performance and outsold the competition month after month.  What you're saying is not true.

I think Nintendo didn't want to miss out on so much 3rd party content and the launch is mostly 3rd party content.  I think most Western devs will ignore the Wii U.  Which is why Japan is so pivotal, IMHO.

If Nintendo gives us a new Smash Bros, Mario Kart and (hopefully!) a new Mario and Metroid in glorious HD ... THAN the system won't fail ... but these are games which are already in development (except Metroid :/)

There was a massive rumour list a while ago stating that Nintendo does have big game announcement in the next years... 2 new IP's and more games like Bayonetta 2 (be prepared ;)

I'm sure Nintendo won't dissapoint... and thats the clue = If you think Mario U or Zelda U than you think to yourself= oh yeah.. that is gonna be fucking awesome xD

for everyone who didn't read those rumours..here' a link=

What are you on about?? PGR3 was clearly far more advanced then any game any of the existing consoles offered. What game performed worse on either the PS3 or 360 then it did on the PS2/Xbox/GC???

We're not talking about the same thing.  I'm talking about sales, you're talking about hardware power!

Misunderstanding.

But yeah, you're right.  But the Wii U will perform above current gen once devs develop specifically for it or develop software with it as lead console.  Quick and dirty ports for launch always come up looking like this.

What 'momentum' when they only get late ports? If they got multiplat releases, like GTA V and Dark Souls 2, then good. But I don't see that happening somehow.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.
