Short review

I think, by now, it's safe to say that ZombiU, the WiiU exclusive 'hardcore' title is not a repeat of what happened with Red Steel. Or, at least not with most people anyway. It is a strange kind of game; one which infuriates you immensely but rarely because of the game itself, but because of you. You're the reason you died and have to start all over again, and if you didn't want to lose all your weapons, perhaps you should have gone into the next room with something better than the Hunting Crossbow.

It's also a game which brings back the survival horror genre, and for this it should be applauded. One area in particular (which contains some antibiotics, so if you've played the game you'll know what I mean) is very suspense-filled, and it does a great job of not only building an atmosphere, but maintaining it. This is something which has been sadly missing in too many of the so-called 'survival horror franchises' as of late, and so for this game to pull it off so well is surprisingly welcome.

If you're a fan of the genre and looking for a game to play on your shiny new WiiU, then look no further. With a 15+ hour campaign, multiple endings, a high level of replayabilty and some truly great use of the Gamepad, this is quite literally the WiiU's 'killer app'.

If I had the time, there's quite a bit more I'd like to say about the game, but I'd like to hear what you think. Did you get this game? Are you a fan? Or, are you simply stuck and too afraid to ask anyone else for help? Well, get posting then!

Nice review! I have a full review coming but I didn't really wanna put it all down. I'd give it 8.8/10, though.

Really dissapointed nobody came in here to comment.  But thanks.  I had to lower it on th baasis that it isn't a game for everyone.

I am interested in this game but I'm just not sure... I love horror games (huge Resident Evil fan here - especially the "true" survival horror ones), it's just that some reviews turned me off. Is it true that you play through half the game with a wooden stick because there's no ammo? Is it fun to play for a long time or does it get boring after some hours? And how much fun is it to play in a group? (Not just multiplayer - watching someone else play, etc.)

Ubisoft should put a demo of this one on the eShop

Dont let reviews turn a game down just because certain people are biased to true horror or nintendo!!! Its a great game and is pretty scary at times, but non the less fun! Only problem i say is controls when shootin but it aint a big deal. Also everyone on Miiverse is saying is great which i believe its true! You cant go wrong especially if you liked the old RE games!

There's a demo coming out I think...

And there is a fair bit of ammo, I seldom used the cricket bat (the Hunting Crossbow was enough for most enemies IMO), and you merely need to explore old areas to get more ammo. It's good fun to play for a long time, especially the second half when the story kicks in. You want to know what happens next.

It's good to watch in a group, but...there's a lot of 'look at the Gamepad' which comes up so that can break the flow for observers.

Demo will be out next week I believe. I think I just read that on GAF today.
