Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Wii-U Network Extremely Slow

Updating took a little over an hour, then download the You Tube app, update Nintendoland, update Mario, welcome to the HD generation ugh. The 2nd update has not turned up yet. It says there is one in the message center but when I check for an update it says up to date, so confused...

Is there a way to get your Miis from the Wii to the WiiU without wiping the Wii in the process? System transfer should do it but that wipes the Wii according to the instructions. Transferring via Wii remote doesn't seem supported as the import feature is missing from the WiiU's Wii menu.

Don't have the U yet.. but whit wii you could transfer them in the wiimote memory (10 at the time i think)

ont. a hour update.. for a better and faster preformance... and people are complaning.. i don't get it.. are some people playing all the time.. why not just do like when we update windows or other thing.. take some to eat, watch tv.. or do it in the night.. no reason to sit and wait..

And why do all people say.. DON'T TURN IT OF.. IT MAY CRASH.. When it's always like that.. we all now not to shut down our phones when they update.. and nintendo also says it.. This is not a problem.. this is a update like almost all other electronic devices also gets..

But it's like the "the wiimote will smash your tv" "It kills childerens eyes" "The battery is crap"  and so on..

Can wait to next month, when this will never be mentioned again..  But what then.. will it be the childish card again.. or mayby "it's not waterproff" can't wait.. :)

No update should take 5 hours to download and install. I can format my PC and install Windows faster than that.

To be clear: my internet speed is 50Mbit/s but real word speed is easily 2MB/s, so it's definitely Nintendo's lousy network servers. I hope they fix it soon because playing online would be disastrous this way.

I tried that, got the wiis in the wii-mote, wii-mote paired with the wiiU. The WiiU tries to import them from the Wii Mii Channel, yet the WiiU's Wii Mii channel doesn't have the transfer option. (Now say that 10 times fast)

Anyway I was trying to get the system all setup/charged for christmas morning and stick it back in the box while the kids are asleep. Not a bad idea considering it took almost 3 hours in total.

I genuinely had no issues and it downloaded in 45 minutes

WTF???

Wy so long????

The longest system update for 360 that I ave ever waited is 20 mins.

My PS3 on the other and 3 hours.

I now confirmed Nintendo's Wii-U network has major issues. The Wii-U does not have the same network servers as the Wii. Proof: I downloaded a WiiWare game from the Wii shop today and it download within seconds. I downloaded the same game from the Wii-U shop and it took me around 6 minutes(!)

Has Nintendo confirmed this issue yet?

EDIT: 40 minutes later and it's much faster now, thankfully. Still strange these fluctuating speeds...

I'm still betting on network traffic being the culprit more than anything else.

Right now you have tons of new people every day all hitting the servers. All hitting eShop for new games. All updating the two 5GB and 500MB updates. I bet it will largely correct itself as this early traffic goes away and things calm down. However, it is clearly the Nintendo servers and not the console itself. The console wireless is great as online play and browswer use is nearly identical to my PC on a wired connection. (I have fast cable internet plus wifi-n dual channel)

There are going to be some really disgruntled kids and parents on Christmas morning. Network congestion will probably be brutal. I wish they could suggest to parents that they hook it up and let it DL overnight, as I imagine many of them wouldn't know to do that. Actually, many of them probably wouldn't know how to connect it to the internet.

600mb update....bound to take forever.
It would take me at least 2 hours on my 3mb/s connection.
