Interesting topic, and I have actually been thinking a lot about this subject lately. The origin of the phenomenon known as fanboyism lies in a person's sense of identity and wanting to be part of something like the video states.Part that of sense of belonging is personal investment into an object that the community centers around, in this case a game console. So all the different fanboys in the video game community really need to look in the mirror and re-evaluate exactly what they are investing so much of their self-worth into. There are many other things in life that are more important than defending a video game console or a cheering for a game company when it hits a certain milestone in sales.
