Forums - Gaming Discussion - Have the rules changed!?

I ask this because, as an Xbox owner, I've only ever had Gears, Halo, Forza and Fable to play.  kinect titles, XBL titles, and PC/Xbox titles didnmt count.  Now, I see games like Journey and The Unfinished swan getting lots of love, now.  Can I count games like shadow complex as Xbox games or do I still only have four series to play?  sorry about the bare bones OP.  Imm posting from a phone with 5% battery

No, you can't. Those are XBLA games, which is not the same as true 360 games. Also Gears (1) is multiplatform, as is Fable. They don't count. You can only count Halo and Forza.

True story!

I guess only exclusives count as the measure of a platform to some people. Personally what I find annoying is how people count the impact of exclusives looking backwards and not forwards, I.E. games like Bioshock/Mass Effect etc aren't exclusive now but when they came out they were important/had an impact even if you can't call them exclusives anymore.

Bioshock could never be called an exclusive. Mass Effect was a timed exclusive though, so I guess you have a point there.

It's hard to keep track of which games were and weren't an exclusive. Though IMO the game which really got the PS3 moving funnily enough was Modern Warfare 1. In many ways exclusives are quite over-rated.

Well for one thing I find it disturbing that the last place fans set the trends and rules. For example we cant count good kinect titles because Move failed.

We can however count XBLA now because PS3 fans love praising Journey since its a GOTY nominee.

We can however now praise 360/PC games because PS3 owners praise PS3/Vita games. But theres still many who categorize PS3/Vita games as exclusive because its the Sony family lol. If its not PS3 exclusive, its multiplat.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

XBLA should of course count. Anyone who thinks they do not count because they aren't "true games" are probably the same people who dismiss mobile gaming.

One of my favorite titles this entire year has been "The Walking Dead" by Telltale Games.

Says the guy who makes comparison threads and sets rules that only 70+ Metascored games count because everything below it = shovelware.

Says the guy who makes up criteria for when a generation ends or when sales stop being relevant.

PS3 fans have praised Journey long before any of these nominations. Just like 360 fans praised Limbo, Castle Crashers, Bastion, Super Meatboy, Splosion Man, Shadow Complex, FeZ or Braid. PS3 fans have also praised Flower, Fl0W, Joe Danger, Wipeout, Pixeljunk series or Siren.

You worry too much about what Playstation fans do and fail to realize that MS fans do just the same.

It's just what gamers do. They praise the games they enjoy.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Im sorry but I cant imagine anyone being taken seriously using meta games in 60s or lower to showcase their consoles strengths. Also its common sense that when a new gen begins, the spotlight is shifted to the new hardware and interest in older hardware fades away. That happens with all products, not just gaming.
