Forums - Nintendo Discussion - ZombiU Has "Generally Favorable reviews" on Metacritic - Stop All Red Steel Comparisons

http://www.metacritic.com/game/wii-u/zombiu

Metascore: 75/100

Red Steel: 63/100

So for those who need convincing, I think this is solid evidence that ZombiU is generally considered to be decent, unlike that one mediocre Ubisoft-developed Wii launch title. Moreover, I fully expect the game to outsell Red Steel, which is sitting at 650K according to VGC. Also I bet a sequel is likely, though I think Ubisoft might make it a multiplatform title.

Without the gamepad zombiU just wouldn't be the same. Multiplatfrom for the sequel sounds very unappealing assuming they would have to make compromises for it to play on other systems.

"Gamers" logic: if the game it's not CoD and it's lower than 90 that means it sucks.

Anyway I heard a lot of positive things about the game and it's apparently the 3rd most popular game on Miiverse.

75 is a good score for a new IP and specially a launch game that's not a port, so I will definitely pick it up when I get a Wii U.

Nintendo and PC gamer

im playing it right now and its great, Red steel was just ok
Red steel 2 is still better than both imo

I agree, but then again I expect third-party publishers to try and milk the daylights out any decent and decently-selling new IP. It would not surprise me if Ubisoft is considering a bigger-budget sequel to hit not just Wii U, but other next-gen consoles.

Comparisons to Red Steel aren't completely unfounded, but ZombiU comes out on the positive side of every comparison. I still kind of want to try Red Steel, and both 1 & 2 are obscenely affordable used.

OMG I WILL KILL YOU .... and by you, I mean your zombified dead survivor in ZombiU.

Honestly... I really don't understand people rating this game below an 8. I say 9, but below 8 is just not appropriate.

If you don't like survival horror, that's one thing and you should've done your homework before buying... or rented.

But, The game makes sense in every way. Could more money been put in to art? Sure, but I'm not going to knock it much for that as its a new IP on a new console. Does anyone expect a company to invest $20million in that type of game? Maybe if this was being put on an established console with 50million users. But not for a launch title. Even given that, it still looks really good and the dark gloomy atmosphere fits it to me anyways. Kinda like an older horror movie... which is probably the intended goal.

Then you add in the integration with your friends, random dev team comments in game, scares, fact that it literally gets your heart pumping with anticipation and nervousness, solid and punishing complexity, ...man its just a great game all around.

All ratings should be between 8 and 9 for this game easy.

Actually, I already stopped that comparison personally. While ZombiiU falls short of being a 'great' launch title, it does succeed at what it's trying to do, something Red Steel did not.
