I'm on to something epic boys and girls!
I can't go into too much details of course, but I'm on to something here and in the next year or so I may have a permanent and professional fix for these N64 thumbsticks on the retro gaming market. No over sensative replacement units, cheap 3rd party controllers, tape, or glue needed! My girlfriend rolled her eyes and said "Oh my god, no Hon..", but what do you guys think? Would this be something the gaming community would eat up? I told a few of my gaming friends about it and they love the idea. Some more input would be great!

i mean that the n64 released about 15 years ago. but i have to admit i would still play mine if it was still working :( and thats why your 15 years late i would have loved your solution (if it actually works) when i still had my n64 working

It's never too late for a good innovation and as old controllers get older retro gamers will be looking for a fix.

I don't know the nature of your joystick fix, but if it's something that can be done with off the shelf parts you will have a hard time selling it. Retro gamers are pretty good at modifying and maintaining their stuff and they take pride in doing it them self.

If your idea is a manufactured product you may find a small niche. But if it's something that can be easily copied it will spread across the internet like instructional videos on Retr0Bright.

It's less about jamming glue and tape in there to fill the empty spaces, and more about manufacturing new parts. There's 3 key pieces in there that like to wear out. They can pretty easily be taken out and replaced if the parts were readily available. My goal is to make those parts available.

you can emulate N64 games on a crappy PC with whatever controller. If your idea works, you can have a niche. How big that niche is I don't know. You also have to get people to look for your service.

 But, people make money doing products or services in small niches all the time. 

Well its shouldn't be too expensive to get those parts manufactured... they are small plastics right? shouldn't be more the 2.50 ~ 5 bucks a piece..  build some protoypes then send it to china and they'll make a few thousand for even a better price... then build a cheap website where people can order them..

Dude, you are too late. Emulators have been out for ages.
