Forums - Sales Discussion - Wii's 1st 2 3rd Party Million Sellers are...

UbiSoft "has also seen strong sales of previous quarter titles such as Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas, with 1.7 million sales, and its Wii lineup, where Rayman: Raving Rabbids and Red Steel have seen respective sales of 830,000 and 950,000 units since the console's launch".

Red Steel then, should be the first (non-Nintendo) Wii game to sell 1 million copies worldwide.  Since Ubisoft's financial reports is through March 31, it is possible that the title has already reached that threshold.  Raving Rabbits should be there by May/June as well.  With EA seeing decent Wii sales too, I think Nintendo can look forward to many exclusive/semi exclusive Wii titles from 3rd parties selling over 1 million copies worldwide.

wow they must have sold well in Europe because I think Rayman is only at 450k and red steel at 400k in america.  They both didn't sell well in Japan, maybe another 50-70k can't remember.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

this is the best possible news right now for the Wii.
3rd party start to believe they can do well and Red Steel 2 surely has green flag.

[Hus, Kwaad, Shane mod]

3rd party software doesn't sell on Wii, this is fake news!

[/Hus, Kwaad, Shane mod]

Other than that nice to hear. Ubisoft most be very happy, who would have thought that their gambeling on Wii for the start would have meant that much cash

Buy it and pray to the gods of Sigs: Naznatips!

let's see in a year who has more 1million+sellers worldwide.

I fly this flag in victory!

Sell-through is probably higher for Rayman than RS. We know it is in NA. I believe Rayman will be the first 3rd party title to reach 1 million in sell-through, though it looks likely RS will ship 1 million first. This is not surprising, as RS took a major hit at launch when the reviews came out. Good to hear it will still pass 1 million, and possibly very soon.

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.
