Forums - PC Discussion - Crysis 3 PC requirements...or...are they?

Crytek and Electronic Arts have officially revealed the PC system requirements for Crysis 3. Although these specs can be found on Crytek’s official website, we suspect that they are not the real deal. As we can see, Crysis 3 PC might be a DX11-only title, something that was never stated by Crytek.

It’s really shocking, so let’s hope that it’s an error from Crytek and not a real requirement. Not only that, but Crytek has mistakenly listed the Intel Core i3-530 as a quad-core CPU. Furthermore, instead of a quad-core CPU, Crytek has listed a quad-core GPU as a recommended requirement. We’ll contact Crytek, so expect an update on it the moment we hear back from it. Here are the listed requirements for Crysis 3:

Minimum System Operating Requirements for PC:
• Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8
• DirectX 11 graphics card with 1Gb Video RAM
• Dual core CPU
• 2GB Memory (3GB on Vista)
• Example 1 (Nvidia/Intel):
• Nvidia GTS 450
• Intel Core2 Duo 2.4 Ghz (E6600)
• Example 2 (AMD):
• AMD Radeon HD5770
• AMD Athlon64 X2 2.7 Ghz (5200+)

Recommended System Operating Requirements for PC:
• Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8
• DirectX 11 graphics card with 1GB Video RAM
• Quad core GPU
• 4GB Memory
• Example 1 (Nvidia/Intel):
• Nvidia GTX 560
• Intel Core i3-530
• Example 2 (AMD):
• AMD Radeon HD5870
• AMD Phenom II X2 565

Hi-Performance PC Specifications:
• Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8
• Latest DirectX 11 graphics card
• Latest quad core CPU
• 8GB Memory
• Example 1 (Nvidia/Intel):
• NVidia GTX 680
• Intel Core i7-2600k
• Example 2 (AMD):
• AMD Radeon HD7970
• AMD Bulldozer FX4150

I certainly hope this isn't true. DX11 required? Doubt it.

Oh hey I might be able to run that on my computer maybe...my CPU is a bit weak though :/

AMD Athlon II X4 630 ~2.8 GHz

I recently upgraded my graphics card to : HD Radeon 7850 2GB OC

Hmmm, not a bad CPU, but may be getting a tad outdated. If you're going to upgrade, look for 3.0GHz as a standard. The card is fine, however.

Would not surprise me at all.   CPU specs are probably more of "Something around here is fine" for everything above "Required"

Think my PC would be close to the highest settings?

i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz, ~2.8 GHz

GTX 660 Ti

6 GB's RAM

I'm mainly asking because I literally know nothing of how CPU's compare to other CPU's.

Also I'm thinking of getting more RAM.  It's best to have all your RAM the same speed correct?  I can I find out my RAM speed without taking it our of my computer?

They don't seem that harsh actually. Good thing I have 8GB of RAM and a GeForce 660, but my CPU is a little lacking, a Conroe @3.0 Ghz.

I guess my i5-2500 CPU @ 3,30 GHz is enough? I have a Radeon HD 6800 series graphics card. Thats a bottleneck but I should be able to play the game. It hits all the requirements.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

920 isn't 8 CPU's, it's 4 cores with hyperthreading. Though I think it appears in some programs as 8. You can check your ram speed in the bios... by hitting delete at the boot prompt and search around there. Technically you can get faster rated ram, and make them run slower. Or overclock the slower ram to the faster RAMS rated speed.

Something like CPU-z or even 3dmark011 I think will tell you as well.

If you want to be crazy, you can overclock that CPU quite far... I got it to 4GHZ stable on air.

On a different topic. I find the minimum requirements a bit strange, because it's going to have to be played on consoles. But the PS3 and 360 have around a 7800 GTX and doesn't do Direct X11. I can't see them not making the minimum requirements lower.
