I think the Dutch people here do not understand that this is actually a good thing for our economy, It may not seem like it but otherwise our economy would be to heated up. we are a small country and our economy is almost purely based on export, if this wasn't happening we could have gotten ourself in the same crisis a decade ago.

Or because of Geert Wilders, or because we had troops in Iraq, or because we have troops in Afghanistan. We're allies because we want to and I think it's a good thing.

I'm against the war in Iraq, but it's there (for dubious reasons, but still) and you can sit back, relax and do nothing or you can help out, which will ultimately benefit the people there. The war in Afghanistan is approved by the UN and therefore as a member you should do your duty.

What I don't understand is why the US minister of defence is saying that the Dutch, British and Canadian forces aren't doing their jobs, seems like a very stupid move to me.

That's not true, the Afghanistan war was approved (after it beclame clear that 9/11 was mostly arranged from there). You're mistaking it with the Iraq war,  in fact the war itself wasn't fought under UN flag, only by the coalition of the willing (Australia, Canada, Holland among others).

Not in my opinion.  Whether its a psycho redneck bombing an abortion clinic or an islamic fundamentalist strapping a bomb to themself or an IRA member dropping a bomb in a bar, its all terrorist activity.

I don't wish to insult or anything as I'm friends with the Americans, but the fact is that America consider itself as the leader of the world and most of all as the biggest insipiration in the world. Once America is affected by something, like the attacks on the World Trade Center or America ends up in recession, the entire world is affected. If The Netherlands or any other small, non influential country is in a recession, no one would even notice this.

 Yeah right. Just like America helped with the IRA, or with ETA in Spain.  Just like the US defended Tibet. And how it's doing a lot to help in Sudan.

Your worldview is a complete and total delusion. America intervenes when it helps America. The earlier you learn that, the better.
