Forums - Gaming Discussion - Two of my 360's break down in one day

What should I do?

Send in for repairs. $119 6 4.62%

Buy a new 360 25 19.23%

Stick with just a PS3 68 52.31%

Buy A Wii (LOL) 5 3.85%

Buy A Wii (I'm Serious) 22 16.92%

You bought seven 360s and now your last two don't work, I personally would of stopped buying them after the second one broke. Glad my old model one is still pushing. But maybe you should just get one fixed, or go pc, or ps3, or even....dare I say it....with the wii.......I'm gonna leave now.

The problem, is that you're a slave to the sunk cost fallacy.

You have so much invested in your gamertag that you are motivated, no, DRIVEN to spend more and more money on it. You have become a slave to the gamertag, when in reality, everything you've put into the tag......what you've spent is already gone. It's not still there. Spending more money does not keep it around because the gamertag is JUST YOUR OWN MEMORIES OF THE PAST!!

Think about this. WHy is your gamertag so valuable? Because it's YOURS. Nobody else's gamertag is worth anything to you, but you can imagine what they'd be worth to those people who own them.

Gamertags are inherently, of no value. They are only a symbol of past expenditures; expenditures of time, money, and laughter. But, those things already exist in your own memory. Therefore the gamertag is worth even less than money because you already have a gamertag....in here *taps head with finger*

And your friends? You will soon notice how they are slaves themselves. They will exclude you, but you will see how much they invest into their tag, and soon enough you will see it isn't worth it.

That's how I was with PSN. Just go out and stop spending this kind of money on something that you obviously, and understandably revile and despise, but are afraid to let go of.

You aren't defined by your gamertag.
:D

Now go buy some ps3 games.

Wait so.. gamertags are not worth anything yet Psn ids are worth something?

Yay!!!

six and seventh xbox 360's?? you got to me fucking kidding me

I know. I had four previously that I had to go straight to the store to exchange for and when the fifth one bricked I just went out and bought the elite which was my sixth xbox.

why the hell do you keep buying them if they keep breaking down?

Halo 4 is that amazing!

it ONLY got an 87 metascore. its the biggest dissapointment of the past 3 years

Biggest disappointment? How? B/c of a meta score?

of course because of meta, 87 isnt acceptable

This is the way that you suddenly measure the success of a franchise? Or is it just directed towards Halo 4?

its not suddenly, its just the way i measure the success of a franchise when im being sarcastic and bored :D and if 87 or halo is a huge dissapointment, what the hell would medal of honor war fighter and CoD Black ops declassified be?

Strange post in the first instance :/

yeah i know, i was just messing around though

Buy a ps3 or wiiu.

I'm kind of surprised more people don't "get" why people keep buying more of a given console after repeated failures.

It's mostly because your gamer tag/user ID and more importantly, because your account, which gives you access to everything you bought on XBL/PSN is probably worth a lot more than a $200 box if you've been gaming on a given platform for years with any sort of regularity.

I'm pretty sure I have several hundred dollars worth of games and content on PSN from almost 6 years worth of purchases which means if I ever want access to all those games and content, I have to have a working PS3.

There are a shit ton of users on XBL in the same situation, so it's really not a matter of "why do I keep buying replacement consoles" so much as you have to in order to access your purchases.

That's probably the thing I like most about Steam; I can run it on any PC I build or buy and I'll always have access to the hundreds of games I have bought through the service no matter what happens to the PC I happen to be using. Whenever one breaks or is ready to be replaced, I'm actually happy to be given an excuse to upgrade.

Relax. Me and 2 other buddies all had this problem earlier and when I checked twitter apparently a bunch of others did too. We were all playing Forza Horizon last night and that was what I left in the tray. After trying to turn it on twice earlier and it kept freezing, I just left it and it was fine once i got home
