Wii U Vs Xbox 360: Assassin's Creed 3 Reveals The Truth

Assassin's Creed 3 puts the Wii U to the test. Do third party games really look better on Nintendo's new console?

Assassin’s Creed 3 is one of the many third party games heading to the Wii U that Nintendo’s Reggie Fils-Aime believes looks better on its new console.

With the Wii U currently already out in the US and scheduled for release in the UK and Japan later this week, it’s about time we took one of Ubisoft’s biggest games of the year and put the Wii U to the test.

Does it really have the best version of third party games like Reggie Fils-Aime believes?

Here’s a breakdown of Assassin’s Creed 3’s opening moments distilled down into screenshot form. Does the Wii U version best the Xbox 360 version?

It’s hard to say (which probably means it doesn’t make a vast difference). There’s certainly something distinct about the Wii U version of Assassin’s Creed 3, but does it really look substantially better?

We’ll leave that for you to decide.

(The first picture of a scene is always from the xbox360, and the folloing is from Wii U)

Personally I think the Wii U clearly looks better!!

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

The Wii U version looks slightly better but there are something wrong with the Wii U colors (not just this game).

Edit - The Wii U version has bad or no shadows... I can say it is better now.

hmm i think there are way too less pics comparing the normal gameplay in the wood/towns/wherever  (i would expect pics from the roof of buildings and stuff)

but damn both look not good in full-screen on my monitor^^

I think not buying the game on any system would do the game justice.

The only difference is the Wii U has a slightly lighter color gamma.

That's it.

The rEVOLution is not being televised

That's not it... the Wii U show less colors (I used a program to count the num of colors)... I thing it not have full RGB support.

There are issues with shadowns too... no shadowns sometimes.

Lighting is better on WiiU for sure.

It's a lighter color gamma pattern you are seeing which will give off fewer colors in the spectrum because the lower color spectrum isn't represented.

I only saw one instance that looked like a missing shadow but the scenes were not identical so it's not prudent to law that claim until we get something more specific showing that lack of shadows.  Especially given that shadows were equal in presence in every other coamprison shot.

Close enough that it doesn't matter. Same game. Though for a early rushed game, I can't wait to see full exclusive games like Bayonetta2 or .....

"However, there is some unwelcome news - specifically that the HDMI output is locked to limited-range RGB only, with footage from all games we've captured thus far revealing absolutely no information in the 0-16 or 235-255 areas. Many digital displays - PC monitors in particular - don't operate correctly with limited-range RGB, giving washed out colours principally defined by blacks being more grey-like in nature. This is something Nintendo really needs to address as a matter of urgency - it's the most basic of omissions, something that Sony and Microsoft resolved to everyone's satisfaction many, many years ago."

Limited colors confirmed... that's explain the missing colors in all games comparison I saw until now.
