Forums - Gaming Discussion - Hiroyuki Ito (Director FF6, FF9 and FF12) hints that he's working on FF15 in recent interview

I got this from Wikipedia so take this with a grain of salt:

----------

The December 2012 issue of German magazine iOS GameZone contained an interview with Hiroyuki Ito. The interview was mainly about the iOS game Guardian Cross and how it has become popular in Germany. Hiroyuki Ito clarified that he only created the game design, wrote the base story and supervised the game's development; he did not produce or direct the game.[47]

After asking a series of questions about Guardian Cross, the interviewer then asked questions related to the Final Fantasy series. He asked Hiroyuki Ito why he has not worked on any Final Fantasy games since the release of Final Fantasy XII, citing the game as being mature and complex and breathing new life into the Final Fantasy series. Hiroyuki Ito replied that he's been busy leading development of an unannounced, large-scale project since 2008.[47] The interviewer then asked when this project will be announced. Hiroyuki Ito replied that he doesn't know as Square Enix president, Yoichi Wada has delayed the announcement until Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is released worldwide and gains a certain amount of subscribers.[47] The interviewer asked if this unannounced game was a Final Fantasy game. Hiroyuki Ito laughed and replied, "You'll find out when the game is announced."[47]

On a separate point, the interviewer asked Hiroyuki Ito if the Active Dimension Battle (ADB) system will ever be used again seeing as Final Fantasy XIII never used it. Hiroyuki Ito replied that ADB is alive and that he's preparing its evolution.[47] The interviewer then asked Hiroyuki Ito if he has played Xenoblade Chronicles due to the battle system being clearly influenced by ADB. Hiroyuki Ito replied that he has played the game and that he was impressed with the scale of the world and found the underlying mechanics of the battle system to be interesting.[47]

The interview concluded by the interviewer asking what's next for the Guardian Cross series. Hiroyuki Ito replied that it has been really successful in some countries and a disappointment in others. He hopes that word of mouth of the game continues to spread and it keeps gaining in popularity.[47] He added that he's considering adding Guardian Cross connectivity to his unannounced, large-scale game. Player's will be able to connect their Guardian Cross accounts to the game and challenge the NPCs in the world and also enter tournaments in the various cities.[47]

I am glad that he is working on it (hopefully it is true) also......hint hint, I did say a few months ago that every "3rd" FF game became an incredible addition to the series!

FFXV is gonna be amazing *__* (I hope l0l).

I agree with you.

Hopefully this is legit info and not BS being thrown up on Wikipedia.

This better be true.

Blah wikipedia, I really liked 12. Really need the old FF designers to work on new FF.

It won't be amazing
It will probably play like Call of Duty or something like that.
You know the CoD Community is much more worth and bigger than the own fanbase build over years.
Wada is an idiot and will sacrifice everything like they did in this Gen.
Sony only and Nomura as boss - Only way to save SquareEnix.

If FF Versus XIII releases in 2014, it will be releasing 9 years after it began development. That shows how poor Nomura is at directing large-scale, AAA games.

Well we've speculated this for a long time. I like how the interviewer indirectly insults FF13 by saying that FF12 was complex and mature.

Either way, hopefully the project will be announced soon.

Sqaure Enix employees never comment on rumours until something is offically announced, so its no supprise he didnt say anything. When is FF14-Realm Reborn out? The sooner that is out, the sooner we find out about FF15.

Late spring, early summer. They don't want to rush the game like the first version of FFXIV was. The game is at the global Alpha stage with Beta starting in January or so.
