Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Zelda U controls speculation

I had significant problems with the Wii Motion + controls on Zelda. It definitely wasn't every 5 swings, but it was annoying, especially in duels where good control was needed. It was also lame for things like tossing bombs or flapping the wings of the bird. Let me just point up or hit a button. I have to say though, I just picked up a Wii Remote + with the + built in to go with my Wii U and the controls are night and day better than the dongle attachment with Skyward Sword. It's made the game way more fun and I've gone back to it to finally finish it this week.

This would simply not work due to the short battery life of the wii U gamepad.

Predictions for LT console sales:

PS4: 120M

XB1: 70M

WiiU: 14M

3DS: 60M

Vita: 13M

It will be very interesting to see how we are going to play the next Zelda on Wii U. I've read different things from Miyamoto and Iwata, but I will be surprised if the next Zelda game doesn't use the Gamepad exclusively. They have a tendency of forcing just one control-option on us. Which is a shame, 'cause I loved the motion control in SS.

But I trust Nintendo and they have never f'ed up Zelda before, and I don't see them starting now.

^ triple no avatar posts. what has happened here.

The controls for skyward sword definitely tested me a lot and I didn't feel like they were entirely necessary. I know that Miyamoto said that he can't think of going back, but I was able to get a lot more of the precision I wanted (especially for bow and arrow) on TP with just a regular Wii set up.

I'm not a big fan of controlling things by rotating and pivoting my wiimote. It just isn't a fun thing to do. I feel this way with just about anything that requires unnecessary wiimote levelling. I think SMG had a few levels like that that made me feel suicidal.

But it's okay. All I'm asking for is a mature HD Zelda sometime within the next 5 years, and I'll be happy.

I personally would like more Ocarina of Time like game. Pure epicness, good pace.

The control options from OP would be an option, in case gamers want to use it. It would be advertized, but not required.

And yes, my threads are so awesome that they get 3 no-avi posts in a row :)

If by "mature" you mean dark and m-rated, then you're going to be disappointed. Zelda's always had a more whimsical approach. even on its darkest days, and I can't see Nintendo of all companies locking out a younger audience just to please a few older gamers.

Never say never, they did for Twilight Princess.

Twilight Princess was m-rated?

No, but it was dark and "locked out" a younger audience (by appeal). But if m-rated is all you meant then I agree.

This is the only acceptable controller for Zelda on Wii U for me...

Leave the touch screen / stylus controls crap to handhelds and leave the shitty waggle / motion controls out period, and I'll be happy.  Of course, Nintendo will probably do the exact opposite of that, so looks like I'll be skipping out on the new console Zelda game yet again unless they come up with something absolutely jaw-dropping.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.
