Wow this thread has made me realize that the Microsoft store has the BEST deals on 360 and PC games.

Why would you just realize this? They're published by Microsoft so of course they can offer it for a lower price -.-

Really? Skyrim, Max Payne 3, Batman Arkham City, and many other popular 360 and PC multiplat games (all $9.99) are published by Microsoft?

Guess you learn something new everyday.

Lol those games are all over a year old. Of course they will be on sale who would buy them at full price after a year of release?

All of those examples (and the many more games they have listed) have a new retail price of $50-60 and are all $9.99 at the MS store, hence my realization that they have the best deals for 360 games this year (which is true). Show me anywhere else that has that amount of great 360 games for that cheap of a price.

You're arguing for the sake of arguing.

Lol you turned this into an argument. I was just amazed at how you realized that a company lowers the prices of games during the holiday season, not to mention Microsoft lowering the price of 360 and pc games (windows). Not trying to start an argument.

No, I know that companies lower prices during the Holidays. These deals are seriously good though and better than I have ever seen for the 360 ever (prior holiday seasons included). And I was surprised the Microsoft Store has the lowest prices because after seeing their surface "deal" I thought they wouldn't have much of anything for deals, especially not this good (for instance they have Star Wars the Old Republic collectors edition that usually costs $149 for $9.99).

Yup i'm surprised by how amazing the deals have been this holiday season for all 3 platforms. This is good competition and in the end the gamers benefit from this =)

It is very good, but very likely, there isn't a huge market for open road racing titles.  Heck, even racing itself isn't huge, unless it is karting (Super Mario Kart) or something like Forza or GT, that have their own bases.

"looks around" but.... This IS Forza..

...

It is as much as normal Forza as the Playstation Portable is a Playstation home console.

Forza Horizon is an open-road racing game, not a driving sim.

There's 2 problems with Forza Horizon... the first is that it's been released just a year after the last major installment in the franchise, Forza 4. The second is that it's a more arcade-y racer in an already crowded field of arcade-style racers, and fans of the series prefer the driving simulation, realism and depth that the franchise is known for.

It's a solid game overall, much better than NFS: Most Wanted for example (which is also going for around $25 for Black Friday weekend). I just question M$'s decision to release the game so soon after the last one and right in the middle of a crowded holiday field. Would have been better if they held this one off for a spring or summer release to help tide 360 gamers over until the Next Box potentially launches next fall.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

I was able to pick up Skyrim for $25, Fallout New Vegas (full version with the expansions) for $20 and Horizon for $15.  XCom was also $25, so there were good deals all over.

Forza is a well known name when it comes to racing games for the Xbox 360 console. Their games have typically seen great success and have a dedicated following. But Turn 10′s latest title, Forza Horizon, isn’t looking so hot. Or at least that’s what the current sales are telling us.

Right now you can grab Forza Horizon, which just released on October 23rd, for a small $15 investment on the Microsoft Store website. This throws up a red flag that the game is already tanking and hasn’t seen much in terms of sales in the past month. Why? Well, think about it. All other big games such as the Call of Duty series or Halo series tend to hold their value long after release.

Case in point: Halo 3. This game was released in 2007, just over 5 years ago, and still sells for $19.99 brand new. Even titles that aren’t quite as big as CoD or Halo typically hold their value for 6 months to a year before dropping an astounding $45. But Forza Horizon is on sale one month after release for just $14.99 when it debuted at $59.99.

This is very unfortunate for the game and the brand itself. It’s especially surprising considering the game actually received many high rated reviews, too. Here are just a few of the review scores give to Forza Horizon:

  1. IGN – 9.0
  2. GameSpot – 8.5
  3. MetaCritic – 85%
  4. Joystiq – 4 Stars
  5. Eurogamer – 9.0

With ratings like those you would think the game would’ve done well off launch date. While there aren’t any official numbers out as of right now, the current $45 off sale is a strong indicator that the game isn’t doing too well. When Forza Horizon released it didn’t really have any games to compete with. Is it possible gamers held off on buying it because of the near-future releases of games like Halo 4 and Call of Duty Black Ops 2? Or was the game not on players’ wish lists at all? Who knows.

Forza Horizon is a bit different from the rest of the titles in the series, though. Instead of the typical racing event schedule the game is an open world where players are free to roam the roads. You’ll still have races to attend but you have free reign of where you can otherwise. Many of the reviews above state that this is something the Forza Motorsport franchise has needed for quite some time but maybe it came too late.

What are your thoughts on Forza Horizon? Do you like the game? Did you hold off getting it to purchase games in bigger franchises this year? Leave a comment below and let us know!

I guess you never heard of Black Friday.  Also the only store that had is for super cheap was Walmart at $15 not $14.99.  Furthermore the game is doing fine it already sold over 600K units in four weeks.  Which is great for a spin off, something you probably never heard of either.

End of this generation, so Microsoft was trying to get things in place, and also push Horizon as a new franchise most likely.

As far as "too soon", you have Call of Duty being an annual thing also.  So I am not sure too soon is a fit, particularly when Horizon has a different focus.

Maybe much better from a sim racers perspective. Not from an arcade perspective. I like both sim and arcade but grew bored of FH while still playing MW. MW has a much better sense of speed, cop chases, tons of crazy jumps, large open areas to explore that make the map seem much larger then it is, more collectibles and speed cameras to find, and above all chaotic racing action with spectacular crashes. It's not quite as good as Burnout paradise or NFS hot pursuit, yet still a lot more entertaining then FH if you're looking for an open road arcade type experience.

Well he should have read it before he posted such a stupid article.

Amazon also pricematched WalMart's deal. Sadly, it sold out very quickly.
