how can you find Wii U when it is sold out?

The Wii U is not sold out.  Call up pretty much any american gamestop, the first pharse they say is , thank you for calling gamestop where Wii U is available, how may i help you.

X-D

guess we need to wait until the numbers are in

I guess...but if nintendo indicated they will restock for black friday, and today is black friday then I dont see why it wont be available for purchase.

Black Friday is about mad deals, so the older, cheaper stock is what's getting cleared out. Then for the rest of the Christmas season they can devote shelf space for newer, more expensive things.

WiiU Delux is sold out for about a 250mile radius around me. The Basic can be found here and there.

i don't see another thread so i'll report my sitings here.

Location: Madison Wisconsin

9:00 - Target
wiiU - they had 1 left (at least on display, i didn't ask if they had more in back) the wiiU display was gathering interest but it was glichted so that none of the content worked. call me an ass if you want but i saw 1 customer buy NSMBU for their kids wii ... i laughed silently and didn't correct her.
ps3 and 360 -- tons of bundles left, probably 50 each.
wii -- not too many bundles left maybe only 20 but it had only less than half the dedicated shelf space to begin with and the skylanders bundle box is huge so really even less than less than half.
vita/3ds -- both in ample supply but no specials so it is hard to tell how sales were as target display racks don't have many units to begin with.

10:00 - Best Buy
wiiU -- sold out. wiiU display was working but sort of backed out of the way compared to the ps360 displays. not a lot of people noticed it but i did play some. rayman sucked balls but that's another thread.
ps3/360 -- like at target tons of bundles but probably about 100-200 left.
wii -- retail space non existant
vita -- bundles sold out, full price vitas clearly picked through but plenty left.
3DS --- clearly picked through but also plenty left.

12:00 -- Toys R us
wiiU -- display rack stuffed (which is to say 3 units). very little retail space was dedicated to wiiU at this time.
ps360wiivita3DS -- display racks picked though but in supply, maybe 6-7 units each.

conclusions -- vita bundles being sold out gives me a glimmer of hope that vita could sell much better if the price was lower. wiiU seemed to be doing well but honestly it didn't look like they had much stock to begin with ... not compared to ps360 at least which was, imo, not going to sell all their bundles.

Not at either of the Gamestops in my area; still only available for people on the waiting list.

Trying to purchase one online yields similar results; the basic SKU only is currently available at Toys R Us (via an expensive bundle), and neither SKU is currently available at Gamestop, Best Buy, Walmart or Target online.  This says that pretty much the only way to get one here in the US is in-store as stock becomes available which suggests they're selling quite fast.

I noticed Wii U getting attention when I was out in the Black Friday madness, so I don't know wha'chu talking 'bout. :P
But I do agree with you about the 3DS and the 360.

Yeah, I'm quite sure that the 360 is going to be a veritable monster on the sales chartz for Black Friday week. Nice to hear that the Wii fared so well, too.

Got back from Walmart. Just wanted to chip in what I seen:

PS3 was sold out completely.
X360 was mostly sold out, there were like 5 left on the shelves.
Wii U was sold out completely.
PSVita looked like it didn't sell one at all.
3DS had quite a few on the shelf.
Wii had a lot on the shelf.

This is by no means what's happening everywhere of course. Just in my area.

Wii U's are not sold out. My Game Stop has both versions in stock right now.

Stock in each store is going to be different from one another and for all we know some people here could be just making stuff up.

I dunno...The PS3 is sold out in quite a few places. That Uncharted/InFamous bundle is a must have. All brands will do  well. Lets see how well the numbers are after November, shall we?
