Let me actually measure the distance mine goes.

Approximately 22-25 feet with a wall between it and the Wii U. (This is in my bedroom, WOOT).

I can't tell how far it would reach without a wall, as I can't walk further than 20 feet from the TV and stay in line of sight. :P

what would be funny is if in some apartment complexes you could use your wiiU remote to access a neighbours WiiU.

Let them buy all the games and you play when they are not at home or are asleep.

That's why you pair your controllers with the system. But I guess it could be hacked, anything that is emited can be viewed in one way or another.

What about wall made of reinforced concrete? Will it result in a lag?

What kind of wireless tech is in GamePad anyway? Bluetooth? Shouldn't be a problem even with concrete walls I believe. Just cheked couple of bluetooth and wi-fi devices I got, they work well. But video could be more informational if the range has been measured on a clear field, that way I could have calculated what effective range I'll get in my house given all obstacles.
