if nextbox is realy realy more powerfull i might pick it instead, but if ps4 and nextbox are identical in power like 360 and ps3 , and next box is just a litlle more powerfull like ps3 is now , i dont care and pick ps4.

paying live is a huge factor here too , i dont pretend paying live and i hope ps4 is equal in power to 360

Question, if MS incorporated a PS Plus approach to Live Gold, would that make paying for online multiplayer more acceptable?

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Story and characters are much more important to me than graphics and regardless of the power level, I will be sticking with the ps4. Even in the ps2 days, I was never tempted by the Gamecube and Xbox - I didnt even realise they were graphically superior....so its not going to be a relevant issue for me and for the vast majority of ps3 gamers.

Of course gamers are more vested in their consoles nowdays with the games and trophies/achievements so I dont think there will be a lot of console switching going on (moving from a ps3 to xbox720 or vice versa).

LOL @ people saying PS1 and PS2 weren't the most powerful....that is partly true, but both brought forth amazing technology. PS1 was the first to do 3D and use CDs. PS2 was the first to use DVDs. At launch, these consoles were beasts. I guess this is all I ask about the PS4. I want it to an amazing piece of hardware(and software) even if the next Xbox launches later and surpasses it.

The point is the consoles weren't using the cutting edge power that nintendo and microsoft were at the time. They might have been leaps but they weren't leaps on the level the others were. Ps1 games also had much more 'blurry' (think of a better word if you can) 3d models compared to what n64 was achieving in it's later years. Look at crash 3 and compare to the top n64 games and you will see what I mean.

One more thing to complete my year = senran kagura localization =D

"since they seem to care the most about graphics"

Honestly, you're going to have to prove that to me, since I see so many "X GAME LOOKS BETTER ON THE 360" threads all over the internet. The first real graphics fanboys in gaming that I remember were the Halo crowd on the original Xbox who used to flood forums with "lol halo blows away the ps2 graphix lol" comments. I think with this generation there have been a ton of "graphix" fanboys on both sides.

Personally, though, I really, truly do not care. Some of my favorite games this generation are from series like Fallout, Dragon Age, Valkyria Chronicles, and Borderlands, none of which were photo-realistic in the slightest. I'll take stylistic art any day of the week and gameplay over graphics. Heck, I wish they'd bring back sprites. I'd still rather fire up Disgaea or Final Fantasy Tactics than most of the graphical monsters of today.

Yooooo I swear It was the same for me. I never realized that the PlayStations were on the weaker side until THIS gen!

EDIT: double post

I'd consider going with the most powerful console available as my console of choice for multiplats and online purchases. (I'll probably get both the next PlayStation and Xbox.)

However, this generation has shown me a few things which would make me inclined to stick with Sony. The following is obviously my opinion:

-Sony are the most willing to experiment and try their hand with new IP's. We're still getting them 6 years after launch from top quality developers. New IP's are far more interesting than X installment in an established franchise.

-Online service is free. I do not want any more subscriptions on top of Netflix. Even if it isn't a huge amount. I spent years paying for WoW and Live, I'm not going back to that unless I'm forced to.

-Sony are willing to push the hardware. Even if they don't release the most powerful hardware on the market, they have some great studios behind them who have produced some of the most dazzling games this gen. I'd really have no fear that next gen, even if they come up short on the hardware, ND, Guerrilla and SSM will still pump out beautiful looking games.

I feel MS haven't really been on par with Sony in these areas this generation. If next gen it's more of the same, I'm not jumping ship even if MS push a billion more pixels. That's the beauty of a new gen though, so much can change and as I said already, I'll probably end up getting both.

I will simply not buy one, its that simple.

Would you buy the 720 in place of it?

If da 720 is a beast? sure

john carmack said both xbox 360 and playstation 3 are equal in power and reason why those game get praise is because of artstyle with fixed two dimensional fixed camera and linear

I'll be okay with that, it's not like the graphics made the game that much better it was just a huge plus. Graphics now anyway are amazing, anything after this is just going to be mind blowing doesn't matter if it is number one at this point it doesn't matter for next gen.
