Forums - Gaming Discussion - Xbox Live is dying?

So, Xbox Live has hit it's ten-year anniverisary. In the past few days, I've read many articles attempting to explain how and why Xbox Live is failing...what is with all these biased articles?

Are they trying to downplay Live's success?

It's hard to say what Live's success is when MS won't actually tell anyone how many Gold numbers there are, which leaves plenty of room for rampant speculation.

You only Live twice!

Well if they have only 1 million subscribers (I'm sure there's more, but to make the math easier...) they make around 60 million dollars a year on it. Hard to imagine that kind of money is made by something that is failing. Everyone I know plays Halo and COD's on Live.

I haven't seen that anywhere, got links?

Everyone who has ever argued the cost of an xbox knows that every xbox owner gets a year subscription for 20$. It's a proven fact.

It has only been one guy who said that and he got his thread shredded to pieces No it is not failing and it has 40 million gold subscribers. It is a billion dollar service so no it is not failing.

LOL @ Bold. No way. Where did this number come from?

OT: No, Xbox Live is not dying, but it is falling behind in some areas. Sony started doing Day 1 Digital Downloads for some games, Microsoft hasn't. Nintendo does it for every single game with Wii U. And then there's Playstation Plus. The value there is amazing.

Steve Ballmer and Majornelson.

PS+ has roughly 5 million users and has had no effect on XBL.  I know a lot of people has been hyping it up on this site but the majority of people see no need in owning PS+.

Don't arrogantly say things you know nothing about.

I've seen more people online in one playlist of CoD than the entire top 10 games on Steam put together.
