For me their respective scores when they were released are like this:

DMC1: 9.5/10.

DMC2: 6/10.  Enjoyable; nothing spectacular, but still fun.

DMC3: 9/10. I think It is way better than DMC1, but it does not had the same WOW factor that DMC1 had when it was released.

DMC4: 8/10.  The game starts not so engaging as DMC1/3, but the more you play it the better it gets, and when you play with Dante with all his styles and different wapons it is a BLAST!

If you dont like DMC4 I really dont know what to tell you.

Yeah I remember I had this talk with a coworker.  I was like "Playing with Nero was alright, but as soon as you get Dante, being able to change styles on the fly just completely changed everything and was so bad ass and quick".  He wasn't planning to get it, but when I told him about being able to change styles on the fly, I think he caved.

I really dont know why they putted Nero in it, but yeah; when you began playing as Dante, it is like HOLY SHIT! this is amazing! (and harder too lol) XD

Playing with Nero wasn't that bad.  I understood the point of the hand, but it didn't change the fact that it could have been a weapon for Dante.

Yeah, but DMC is about Dante, Vergil and Sparda :),  so I would have prefered to play the whole game as Dante.      I did some research on the matter, and it was supposed to be revealed at some time that Nero was Vergil´s son.   The developers in some gaming event "leaked" that.   Now that I know that, the whole thing with Nero with the Yamato has some logic, and the "I need more power" thing makes sense.    And also if you consider that in his devil trigger, he has a "Vergil like" demon behind him all the pieces fit together; but when I first played the game I was like "Sparda had other son WTF?!" lol XD

Having control of the camera in a hack 'n slash game is an unnecessary burden. Having a dynamic fixed camera is one of the reasons God of War has such a film-like feel and why it is such a joy to play, why would I want to constantly be adjusting the camera when the developers can use it to show me the best viewing angles of the action automatically and guide me through the levels whilst showing off the beautiful environments in a grand and purposeful way. And using the right analogue stick to dodge is a lot easier and more comfortable than pressing multiple buttons simultaneously. The flawless camera system is one of the bigger reason no other franchise in the genre will ever match God of War in sales, fan-base or acclaim because every other game has a frustrating camera system, although Castlevania: Lords of Shadow has a very good camera, it hardly ever frustrated me and I think it'll be near-perfect in Castlevania: Lord of Shadow 2.

Fixed cameras for this genre is the only way it should be done, also God of War's camera is never completely static like some ill-informed known haters suggest, it's constantly following the player like a well trained dog and always makes sure you can clearly see exactly what needs to be seen.

Review: DmC demo.

I have never liked the Devil May Cry franchise, so here's an opinion from someone who was 100% willing to give DmC a fair chance to impress (I played the demo on the PS3 by the way).

I hated it, here's why:

Graphics:

It is incredibly ugly graphical, aliasing is hideously distracting, shadows look terrible, character models suck, the environments were bland and looked extremely unpolished for a game so far in development and the lighting was offensively overdone. The game also had a terrible frame-rate, it stuttered all the time and the screen-tearing is such an eye-sore.

Gameplay.

The camera is horrible and had an annoying tendency to look at the floor during the platforming moments, the combat is overly complicated yet weirdly shallow. The game feels unresponsive and isn't fun to play, also the amount of enemies on-screen was far too few, you'll be lucky to have 5 on screen at once which makes trying to pull of combos frustrating when there isn't enough enemies to kill. Also cut-scenes are far too frequent during gameplay to the point were they are jarring and completely ruin the flow and immersion.

Sound.

The voice acting is decent enough, as are the sound effects but the OST is atrocious but that's just my opinion, I prefer an orchestral scores. Also hopefully this isn't present in the full game but the sound constantly kept cutting out which is extremely annoying.

Needless to say I will not be buying the game as there is no way all of my issues can be fixed by launch, it's a shame but oh well, God of War: Ascension and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 are guaranteed to be spectacular and they both will release next year.

Just curious, did you like or play Baynoetta or Ninja Gaiden?

Cause I quite dislike Lords of Shadow and God of War III but in general like DMC (1 and 3), NG and Baynoetta. Something about multitasking combat, camera and weapons/powerups that makes me like the Japanese hack and slash games while the GOW inspired ones feel like a total gameplay grind. Static camera kills it for me as well as it makes it feel like everything is on rails and predictable.

I know there are people that like the GOW stayle of hack and sladh games so I'm just wondering if your review of DMC is reflective of your gaming preferences. If you dislike NG and Baynoetta, that is most likely the case...

I like God of War, Ninja Gaiden, Bayonetta, and DMC1,2,3,4; but I hate everything I have seen of this game, so I dont think what you are asking matters at all.....but that is my opinion ¬_¬ (yeah I am looking to you mod).

so you liked DMC 2 & 4?

For me their respective scores when they were released are like this:

DMC1: 9.5/10.

DMC2: 6/10.  Enjoyable; nothing spectacular, but still fun.

DMC3: 9/10. I think It is way better than DMC1, but it does not had the same WOW factor that DMC1 had when it was released.

I diid like DMC 4 but not remotely as much as I loved Dantes Awakening. But I appreciate some change, and the Story of DMC was always bulshit and most of the characters where forgetable. Almost all of them except of Vergil. Have you even bothered to learn something about the story of this game?

Can you split the OP into paragraphs? It would make it much easier to read.

I splited it up a bit.

I must be that one weirdo that actually prefered playing as Nero over Dante in DMC4. Dante was just... over powered. Completely rapes the bossfights. Trickster style on it's own was already broken in DMC3. Now you give me them all at once?!

4 ≈ One

Just played the demo, and I enjoyed it.

Personally, I found the visuals to be awesome, mainly because of the fantastic art direction. It's much more interesting than, say,  Castlevania LoS, God of War, well basically every other hack n slash game this gen. Also found it pretty cool how the city kept shifting. Lots of stuff going on in the level instead of being kept in the background without any slowdowns.

Combat took a while to get used to because of all the button combinations, but it's pretty good. It felt like a mixture of Heavenly Sword and Devil May Cry. You only have one weapon, but you can have different attack styles by holding the shoulder buttons. Alongside that, you can launch, juggle, pull yourself to or pull enemies towards you, and unleash devil trigger. Lots of things to do to pull off an SS rating. Also, there's a couple of items or things to discover like a key to open secret missions or freeing lost souls which is pretty neat.

The only thing I didn't like was the platforming sections. It's not bad or anything though.

Wasn't that interested in DMC because of the developer, but after playing the demo, I think I might get it. Beats getting another same ol', same ol if you catch my drift. Props to NT for not destroying one of my favorite series.

gayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Played the demo for a second time today and i can confindently say we have a game that wants to be called Devil May Cry, has Ninja Gaiden 3-esque gameplay and Enslaved gaming style. It has a chance of selling some copies since there is a big crowd for generic action games and the brand name can give Ninja Theory the publicity boost they never had with Enslaved and heavenly sword.

In that case Rest in Piece Devil May Cry, all hail Bayonetta 2 and Platinum Games

But tell me what was the game?

sure:

the good

-an optically pleasant improvement over Enslaved, one of the better uses of Unreal Engine 3 without excessive texture pop up with a smooth frame rate

-the camera spins all the time !

the "i don't really care"

-silly spin off attempt of the original DMC story with anonymous, world goverment oppression, bad for you energy drinks, crawling in my skin these wounds they will not heal

-in all seriousness donte looks more like Edward than Jacob, especially the jaw line

-a decent generic hack n slash attempt and an improvement over Enslaved in that aspect as well

the bad

-the graphics are NOT an improvement ove the 4 year old DMC 4

-terrible music; pseudo industrial screamo crap

-the gothic architexture was replaced by an exploding french city ?!

-the battle is DMC, in the same was NG 3 deserves to be called Ninja Gaiden

-Stylish meter with no meaning since you are not encouraged to switch between styles or combos but smash your buttons

-very poor (if any) combo variety

-No new moves like bayonetta's witch time and  Nero's Devil Arm

-Very low challange / difficulty level

-Extremely repetitive

-DMC was a different take on the classic RE games, looking for items, unlocking doors etc, DmC is NOTHING but a platformer, a new Enslaved: run, jumb, hang, smash button, watch cinematic, repeat

-Dante's lines were replaced by fuck, shit, fuck, shit, fuck, shit . which apparently is what cool means.

I see your point as a "fan" of old school Dante I see why you would get frustrated with this guy. All your points seem legit but you should consider this is just a 15 mintes long demo.
