As you all are aware of, MBP made a thread saying Forza this generation has sold more games which isn't wrong but the arguments that people are using is
1. Bundles
2. 2 games vs 4
I understand the complaint about 2 games vs 4 but the bundles is honestly just being childish. Gran Turismo gets bundled as well and if you know how business works then you will know it doesn't matter how you get that game in someones hands. Another thing I want to point out is people chose to buy those bundles insead of buying a console without those games whether we are talking about Gran Turismo or Forza.
2 games vs 4 was the next argument and honestly I'm dissapointed in the community for not looking at the bigger picture on this. Forza has grown this generation, while yes Gran Turismo sells more with one copy of the game. You should look at how long each game was on the market before the next as well. Let me put it this way.
Gran Turismo 5 came out on November 24th 2010 and since then it has sold 8.13m copies with 9m shipped. Pretty Impressive numbers
In a close time frame Forza 3 came out on October 22nd 2009. So it has been on the market for 3 years to gran turismos 2. It has sold 5.14m likely 6 million shipped would be my guess although we don't know. Then 1 year later Forza 4 came out and sold 2.54m. This is a total of 7.68m in 3 years.
So In 3 years time the Forza series, excluding Horizon has sold 7.68m to Gran Turismos 2 years of 8.13m.
This means that Forza has become a true competitor, this does not mean it is bigger than gran turismo and I know what you guys will say. In 1 year gran turismo will have sold 10 million. So we will use that. In 3 years Forza has sold roughly 8 million to gran turismo's 10 million. That is not nearly as big of a gap as people make it sound.
Lastly when you look at the quality of each game this generation Forza comes out on top. So right now I want you to act like both Gran Turismo and Forza was multiplatform. Now get rid of the names of each series. Let's call Forza "Racer" and Gran Turismo "Driver".
Racer's metacritic average is 91
Driver's Metacritic average is 82
Now going off that which one would you buy? The reason I say this is because a lot of the reason Gran Turismo sells so well is because of the name it has. Forza is growing and that is because of the quality it has shown with features like the auction house. Gran Turismo is bigger and I don't see that as being an argument but I think the point of MBP's thread was to show that Forza is gaining ground.
