Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Wii to WiiU transfer

Lords of Thunder was a PC-Engine CD game. Think Sonic CD.

Yea, I remember that now.  TG16 had a decent following in Japan mainly right?  I'm surprised it even got to a CD attachment but everyone was doing them back in the day (Neo Geo, Sega, etc).  I almost went with TG16 when I was trying to decide on new system back in the day but I went for the Genesis.  Probably a good choice since TG16 didn't do so well in USA.  Just talking about all these VC games me want to download more but it might be a good thing that I am broke now.  I wish we could get these VC games onto the Wii U side to eventually play off the gamepad but it appears that I might just have to go to Wii SD card channel to play all these.  I can see some people's anger (a thread was even made recently about it) but ah well you can't expect everything I suppose.

Hell. So if I put all my saves on another SD card, I will be able to put them back on the Wii's flash memory no problem at all right?

I don't see why that wouldn't be the case but I just want to be sure.

Yep as long as the saves are transferable to SD cards.  Some games like Animal Crossing don't allow copying of save files.

Right.  I forgot about that... some save files not being transferable.

I'll go ahead and do this soon.

Hence the homebrew solution, rip out any save file whether you're "supposed" to or not.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

What are you all doing with your empty Wii carcasses after the transfer?

Put it in my roommates room and took the Roku box she was using over to my parents to let them use Netflix is they care.  Hopefully, she will practice her Wii bowling skills or something so I can game with her again.  I get too frustrated trying to explain simple game concepts to her so only the very basic games she is able to grasp.

You brought it back to life? That's really nice of you! Still expanding the market.

@MrKhan and late term hacks

SmashStack still works on the virtual Wii in the WiiU (henceforth: vWii). GBATempers have been able to get WiiXplorer and most of the homebrew emulators working. It is currently impossible to install any WADS or cIOS though, as all public exploits have been patched. That means no working HBC yet, but there are several non-public IOS exploits that still work. One user has already dumped the vWii public key using such an exploit. Head on over the the gbatemp.net forums (WiiU hacking and homebrew section) for more details.
