Forums - Microsoft Discussion - 6 Reasons Why Xbox Live is Failing 10 Years Later

Wow they left out Day 1 digital for PSN? That's one of the things that puts PSN above XBL IMO. Even Nintendo is doing it...

Site is obviously extremely biased though, but he does have a point. Xbox Live isn't the standard for online gaming anymore, other services have surpassed it in some areas.

Your must be joking XBL offers much more contend then PSN not only in games almost every retail game will eventually end up in games on demand.  But also in movies and music and other stuff.  Also a lot of PS3 games will never end up being digital because the file size is just to big and not everyone had blazing fast internet and massive HDD space.

I don't get the whole "PS+ gives you free games" argument. They don't. Its a subscription model that doesn't even let you download what you want. While that might work for some people, it's hardly anything to brag about. Much less use it as a bullet point to explain why XBL is "failing".

In fact it's nearly impossible to create a legitimate list as to why XBL is failing, because, it's just not.

I think MS is pretty happy about the failure called xbox live. In fact I think Sony&Nintendo would be very happy too for that kind of profit.

its not failing....does it suck next to psplus? yeah....

I'm not too sure about this.  I'll say that PS+ is a great service, but the only thing really that beats Xbox Live about it is the free games.  I really don't see anything else about it that beats it.  PSN has yet to offer cross game chat.  And lets face it, 4 of these 6 arguements aren't very good .  As I said, PS+ is a great service don't get me wrong, but I don't agree that it "sucks" comparted to XBL.

thats not true. psn does offer cross game chat.

on topic. this is obviously very biased article but does bring up some pros and cons. really both services are good and are nearly indistinguishable.

i dont have psn plus, so cant really comment on it. and i do wish i didnt have to pay for xbox live.

Playstation university? Lol. What a load of horse shit.

Playstation kindergarten more like.

you seem to be getting increasingly hostile in your "attack every thing playstation" its kinda annoying.

while i dont completely agree with it, as it overstates negatives about xbl and understates its positives, its still brings up some valid critism.

though xbl is obviously nowhere near failing, but what to you expect coming from a playstation website, them to say psn is failing compared to xbl?

The difference is ps plus offers you lots of value for a monthly subscription fee.
Xbox live charges you ransom money to use your own internet.
Stockholm syndrome works wonders.

What's the better offer?
Halo 4 offers 2 weeks xbox live trial with the $60 game, so you can at least try the full game.
Journey collection offers 1 month ps plus trial with the $30 purchase, which lets you play 10 other games for a month and get discounts on lots of purchases.

Well, this saddens me. These six reasons are extremely weak.
So let me get this straight, a "model" is failing because it makes a profit, grows year on year, and has a large active base? Biased as hell.

Lets compare PSN to Live my way.
1- Live has a better infrastructure. Its not like PSN customers' CC info wasn't compromised and Sony didn't say anything, right? Of course that couldn't happen. PSN is almighty.
2- Skyrim DLC. That is all.
3- Microsoft has deep pockets so we get timed exclusives.
4- Larger install base.
5- Halo
6- Gears

Yeah, two can play the Fanboy game. My reasons aren't why I own an 360, but I hope you get my point. This article is garbage.

MS does need to step their game up by offering free games. But otherwise this is just pure flamebait thread.

It's just that simple.

Well the OP posted an article in the Microsoft section of this site from a PlayStation website talking about how Xbox Live is failing. I think any fan of Microsoft has a right to be hostile ATM.

The article is horrible and you can tell right off the bat when he attacks Microsoft for giving out free 360's instead of free XBL Gold. What does that have to do with XBL failing? It doesn't it is an attack on the company from his biased opinion.

IMO this thread should be locked because this article is blatantly meant to get a stir out of the Microsoft fan base.
